- Wedding: July 2010
So some of you read our proposal story… if anyone read my vent in the beehive about needing a new venue … you will know that Our gorgeous Venue is a no go. After speaking with them 8 or 9 different times before signing the actual paperwork they had raised the price from around $1,500 to around $4,000 .. when we were trying to work something out to cut back the price and still get to be able to afford our wedding there the owner just starts becoming a class a AHOLE. Fiance was heartbroken & said we could have our ceremony there but not our reception bc he couldnt afford that (we are paying for everything ourselves) but I told him with the way that guy acted I didnt want to have our wedding there at all.
So anyways now here we are with 90 guest invited… we have our date set, our photographer booked, our honeymoon booked & other vendor contacted and 6 months away and we have no venue.
We originally knew we wanted a outdoor summer wedding in the evening & we knew we did not want a church wedding. We now have one big problem. We have contacted every wedding venue within 50 miles of us and we have heard back from all but 2 and they are all booked.
When we were doing a meeting with our photographers yesterday and expressed our problem… they recommended 2 places one of which they shot some beautiful outdoor photos of where the couple had their reception. So we contacted the place and went and looked at it today… I love the views there but I dont know how we can make it work for us but we told them to hold the date anyways since they didnt want any money till 2 weeks before.
it is a golf course with a club house.
Let me tell you what I do like about it…. the views are amazing as pretty as Agota Springs was… it is only about 15 mins from our house but over the state line in Virginia. The owner & the 2 staff members we met are SUPER SUPER SUPER nice and accomodating. He offered to help us in any way that he could even … have his staff arrange our room however we wanted. All of the tables and chairs are included. Even offered us table clothes & anything else he had avaliable on the property to use. We get the Rental Room for 2 days for as long as want as long as everything is cleaned up ready to go on Sunday Morning… the only restriction is No Alcohol. The cost to us is only $150 which is about 10% of what we were planning to pay for our last venue. It has a small kitchen area..
What I dont like… I do not know where we will have our ceremony. (we asked about having it on the green & he orginally said we could if no one wore heels.. but then he got to thinking there would still be golfers on the course at that time of year and that evening and they tee off right below that practice green & he says soemtimes there is some stray balls that head that way.
There is a gorgeous gorgeous overlook deck but the area leading too it is a trashy parking lot. There is a gazeboo along one of the walking trails… but he said it could be difficult for some people to walk to it & not handicap accessible.
I do not like that it does not have an area to get ready… there is enough room in the womens bathroom and in the hallway leading back to the bathroom to get dressed but not enough room to really get ready at.
I dont like that it has long table because i planned my centerpiece ideas for round tables
Here is some pictures … Please tell me your honest opinons….
