I’m always going to lean toward a garden setting. What kind of bride are you? Can you coordinate a lot of things yourself if someone flakes on you, or does that just stress you out to no end?

Out of the other two, I like Inn on the Park, especially if you have Out of Town guests. It’ll give them some things to do.

I am torn! I like the reception space in the Holiday inn (which surprised me!!) But I am a sucker for a garden wedding! Good luck, any of the sites you choose will be amazing!

I’m torn – I prefer the convenience of having the reception at the same place, but you’re right, Inn at the Park is prettier.  I feel like people might be more bitter about paying for parking too if they just came from somewhere else where it was free.  I can’t vote, it’s 50-50 between those two!  I guess the tiebreaker for me is if you are able to swap out the chairs, I’d stay at the garden.

I lived in Madison for 10+ years.  I love Olbrich Garden, and I am sure your wedding will be beautiful there.  I would avoid doing the reception there, if you are having problems with the staff.  I am a stress-free/hassle-free bride, so I would hate the idea of having to coordinate all those moving parts… but that’s just me.

I think the Inn on the Park is beautiful, but driving the Capitol Square can be a bit of a nightmare.  Even with directions, it can get really confusing.  There are a lot of one way streets and traffic.  With all the out of town guests you have, I would discourage this.

That said, I think the Holiday Inn is beautiful.  I don’t think guests will mind the drive, and free parking/same event lodging is really convienent.  I think this is a perfect option.  Plus, they are used to doing weddings, so they will be more helpful and you will have to do less to coordinate everything.

    Good luck!

I would have the ceremony in the gardens and the reception at one of the 2 hotels. If it were me, I would chose the least expensive of the 2 hotel options. I don’t see anything wrong with a Holiday Inn reception. If you also book a block of rooms there you won’t need to worry about people driving home drunk. That’s the advantage of having a hotel reception. 🙂

@Ms_Purple:  Ummm…Inn on the Park all the way!!!  If you can afford it, go for it.  I would simply die as a guest walking into that venue and seeing the Capitol building!

I personally hate paying for parking but so long as I was warned ahead of time, I would get over quickly after seeing the view.

Unless price is an issue, this isn’t even a competition. Inn on the Park is AMAZEBALLS!
