@june2013bride:  Does the contract you signed say anything about changing their prices when they want?

My venue (when I had a DW) upped the prices after the new year, but she told us up front she’ll honor the 2012 prices.  That is the contract we signed.

If you have a contract with prices they have to stick to that but it may say subject to change if you have not signed your goo and beverage contract then that is desperate anod you can’t hold them to prices that’s why you must get a contract when you pay a deposit to hold prices

Yeah, we booked our venue last year but since we’re getting married in 2014, our coordinator told us to expect an 8% upcharge in 2014 compared to the current prices we were looking at in 2012. That’s normal. Unless you signed the contract and put a deposit down, there’s nothing you can really do about it.

You can talk about them to see if they will still honor the previous prices, but you may be out of luck.

You have no legal grounds if you do not have a contract, that’s why you need to make sure you get one that outlines the details. Sorry that the price went up 🙁

@june2013bride:  If you have no contract, how are you sure that your date will still be open when the time comes?  How do they do their booking then?  Even if you paid a deposit there should have been some kind of paperwork, yes?

We signed our contract as soon as we booked, and it said in the contract, prices subject to change up to three months before the wedding. Since you didn’t sign a contract they can do whatever they want.
