So, I think me and my SO might have FINALLY found our venue. We went to visit a venue on Sunday and both fell in love. Now the problem…
I am British, my SO is Spanish..the wedding will be in Spain. Me and my SO live in a little town out of Madrid where all his side will be coming from. My side will all be flying in. The venue is 1 hour away from the airport in Madrid and 2 hours away from our town.
Near the venue is close to a stunning little town which me and my SO fell in love with before we were even enagaged. We have been there many times to go on hikes and have lunch. The venue is in a national park and includes a villa for 16 people to sleep (Which we have decided will be my family). All the other guests (and my SO the night before the wedding) will sleep in hotels in the town close to the venue.
We are having an idea to make the wedding into a weekend event…Friday we want to have drinks and tapas with the guests who are there in the little town in the moutains near the venue (We think lots of the Brits will be there for Friday night but think maybe the Spanish will go Saturday so only stay Saturday night). Saturday evening will be the wedding…my SO wants to invite the guests out for lunch with him on saturday (I won’t go as I don’t want to see him before the wedding – but he wants to see the Spanish guests before the wedding and also invite my friends too – who love my SO). After lunch everyone will go back to hotels for a siesta and shower and then a bus will collect everyone at around 7pm to take them to the venue.
Then we have the wedding and then at 5am a bus will take everyone back. Any guests who want to live earlier (as 5am is late for British guests) can get a taxi very easily (it is 5 minutes between the venue and town where they will be staying).
Then Sunday we are going to invite all the guests back to the venue for paella.
Now we are trying to decide how to get guests to this town in the mountains. There is a bus which goes from Madrid (takes 2 hours) but the bus station isn’t near the airport – they would have to get the metro to the bus station and then the bus to the town. Not many of my friends speak Spanish….
I could also suggest they hire cars (It is a 1 hour car journey from the airport) but I am aware they are already paying for flights and hotels.
I could also organise a private bus/coach to take everyone from the airport to the town but my friends live all over the UK so i imagine will be coming in from different airports and coming in at different times….it might also be difficilt to arrange to get everyone back to the airport…
My SO thinks it is best we suggest they hire a car, they can all drive.
What would you do??
