Venuti’s Banquets – Beware of Pat as your sales rep

@pmj0117: That is such a bummer of the experience you had with Pat!  My girlfriend actually got married there last year and raved about the whole experience, however, her sales rep was not Pat.

Recently, I actually did call to inquire about pricing and space and had Pat as my sales rep.  I felt that he was not easy to work with.  In fact, I felt uncomfortable asking questions.  He did not make me feel welcomed.  That was one of the reasons why we decided to leave Venuti’s out of the running.

Oh Pat, let me tell you my little short story a extrememly brief moment dealing with him.

I went to dinner with my girlfriends one night and wandered over to the reception area and thought this would be a place that I should inquire about for our wedding.  We are not having a large wedding.  I think at that time we were considering inviting 100 people (we’ve cut that in half now).  But anyways, I told my Fiance later that night we should inquire about the place.

Well the next morning I sent a very nice and polite email inquiring for more info about the menu, weddings in general there and a info about a room I was interested in (the one with windows).  What I didn’t know is my Fiance had sent him an email as well later in the day (trying to be a good and attentative FI).  I received a response from Pat “That room is suited for larger groups”.  PERIOD. That’s it.  Not– Good Morning RR, Thank you for interest in Venuti’s. Here is our info.

My FI’s email to Venuti’s literally said something like “need info”.  Oh, and then the same guy Pat sent a whole book to him… Good Morning Mr. RR, We would be happy to help you, here is a ton of info, I look forward to speaking with you, ect.

WHAT?!?!?!  My Fiance sent me that and I was stunned.  It’s not a big deal, but it is?  I never said we wouldn’t book there or lead him to believe we were not interested in having a wedding there.  We are careful of who we do business with and I did not feel confident or comfortable with dealing with him with an event such as a wedding.

@trambam: That immediately turned me off as well and didn’t even give it another thought of having our wedding there.

We booked Venuti’s back in March (and randomly got Pat as my sales rep).  After reading this, I’m extremely nervous that he’s somehow going to mess up our day.  The one thing that turned me off about him was that when my Fiance and I went to go check out Venuti’s originally, he gave us the price for the room.  A few days later, my mom and I went to put the deposit down (she’s a fiesty Italian who takes no crap from anyone) and he raised the price by $2000 and then told my mom that he was going to do her a favor and give her a little discount of $2000.  So, he basically just charged my mom the same price that he told my Fiance and I a few days earlier.  It’s not that I was looking for a discount (we didn’t even ask for one), but the fact that he lied to make it look like he was doing us some favor that really turned me off.  I’m just hoping that our wedding in September goes off without any problems.  :/

I am freaking out. I booked Venuti’s in November for my March 2012 wedding. Yes, over a year in advance. I still love the venue and am happy with my choice. However, now that I am getting closer to the date and planning is in full swing I am very unhappy with Pat. I thought is was just me. Reading these remarks is making me really nervous. Is there anything I can do?

@vmoran32: There has to be some sort of General Manager you should be able to speak with.  Perhaps, they’ll even let you change sales people if you prove your difficulties.  At least it’s worth a try.

I agree, it’s a beautiful venue.  Try to find out who the Manager of the place is.

Oh my gosh, I am so sorry to hear these stories about him!

We are having our reception at Venuti’s in March but are not working with Pat. We have been working with Karen since the very first email and she has seriously been nothing but wonderful! Complete opposite of what this Pat guy sounds like! That is actually one of the reasons we ended up choosing Venuti’s because we felt so comfortable with her! After reading these posts, I feel horrible for you girls but also very lucky I am working with Karen instead. Could you girls somehow ask to be switched to Karen?

So this post originally upset me. This my hall and I started freaking out that my wedding was going to be a disaster. However, this post has be plastered all over the internet. It was be places on every site that one can possible use to review a banquet facility. The owner of Venuti’s has post rebuttals.

I am working with Pat and was originally unhappy. However, since then everything has be wonderful. All my emails have be quickly replied to. We were even allowed a 2nd tasting to help finalize our menu.

Brides do not let this one angry bride stop you from having you wedding at this amazing facility. She people are just impossible to please.

Please note this is the only post she has ever made on this site.
