I am about to start looking for my dress. I loveeee the Vera Wang Esther dress and would love to hear from anyone who tried it. I also like the Amsale dress that is in all their new adds that is strapless with a sweatheart neck and a ballgown skirt that looks like ribbons in flower shapes. Question, what size do they go to for the dress? I see brides maids guides online that go all the way up to size 30. I wear a street 16 so I am thinking I will be bridal 20. Any brides have any info about this??

@mrsesq: Not sure about the Vera Wang Esther dress but the Amsale Bijou dress does go up to a size 20. Just purchased that dress this weekend from an Amsale store in Houston, TX. The Amsale sizing sheet they showed me had sizes up to 20 — though at the particular store I was in, anything over a 16 had a 15% size fee tacked onto price.

hi there!
My wedding dress was Vera Wang. I am a street 4-8 (GAP flatters me with 4s…BCBG gives me 8s…grrrr), and Vera Wang ordered me a 12. I will say that they are PHENOMENAL with service and tailoring – so if you buy from the boutique, they will make it work for you. Honestly, Vera Wang craftsmanship and custom designs and service was truly amazing.
I did my Bridesmaid or Best Man dresses through Priscilla of Boston in NYC – and they were HEINOUS. worst. service. ever. Messed up sizes on my girls…sales girls were ruder than the deli downstairs. I know you didn’t ask about PoB but I take every chance to bad mouth them…ooops!:-)
I truly think the VW will treat you like a princess and find the perfect gown for every shape bride. IN NYC, their boutique was one of my most attentive vendors.
GOODLUCK!!!

thanks for info! My fav is the VW so far, without trying any one yet, so we shall see. PoB had a bridesmaid dress I liked a year ago but now its gone apparently. I am thinking of doing straight off the rack saks or bloomies dresses though so now PoB is def out! ha.

@mrsesq:
White by Vera Wang makes a totally low budget (like 1400 or something) version of the Esther – its a straight across neckline on the strapless part not a sweetheart neckline.
It’s very pretty. And as its at Davids, they may make different sizes, too.

@futuremrscrawford: Your post made me really excited about my appointment with VW in a few weeks! I’ve heard mixed reviews for the most part about the flagship store, but I wouldn’t want to buy a VW dress from anywhere but there because of all the alterations I’m expecting.

@maywearpurple: I went to DB just to check it out when I was in NJ visiting my parents. It was a totally different dress though other than the top part they have attached to the dress with sleeves. I have my VW appt at the flagship next week…someone told me the dress is $12,000 and I thought it was more like $6,000 or $7,000 so that may end my sizing debate anyways because I am not spending $12,000 on the dress…oh alas I guess I will see!
