Can you do some research on the retailer listed on the certificate — find out if they are legit, and then call them to verify that the order number & other details check out?

I usually go with the ‘if it seems to good to be true it probably is’.  I don’t know anything about how to tell if it’s a real Vera, but if you can’t see it in person, I’d probably avoid it.

Fake? Real? Who cares?! That dress is to die for!

The dress looks real to me, and the label/authenticity card both look legit. $4500 is a good deal I think for a brand new Vera, but not exactly suspiciously cheap.

@stillme:  this is a good idea!  The store could probably verify the certificate for you!

@BearyLovely:  I agree that it is gorgeous & she should get it either way… but if it is “fake,” she probably doesn’t need to pay $4500 for it…

Agree with PPs, call the store to see if they will verify the order.  If they can’t or won’t give you the information, I wouldn’t spend that much money if you can’t be guaranteed it is real.

It looks real to me and $4500 is a reasonable amount for a new Vera Wang, but I’d definitely check with the boutique that sold it.

@BearyLovely:  I’m sure she doesn’t want to overpay for a counterfeit dress…would you?

Agree with PP about having it checked out by the VW in LA before purchasing.

Paypal has quite good buyer protection if it turns out to be a fake. They would most likely refund your money.

@mumubear:   VW is known for her over-the-top bows similar in style to the one you have on your dress. At first, I thought it was fake but I do think that it isn authentic now. 😛

@SomedayHisBride:

I know I know I just meant it’s gorgeous either way!  But obviously I wouldn’t want to be ripped off either.
