You look gorgeous in that dress! I’m a big fan of sashes.

Congratulations! Based on these pictures, I like it best with the sash, although it is hard to tell without a straight on picture without the sash. Do you have any other pics? Although it looks lovely with the sash, my concern would be that it cuts the body, rather than elongating it. Hard to tell without a straight on picture without the sash though … Either way, you look gorgeous!

You look great!!! I just love, love, love the Gemma! I ordered it in February and expecting to have it by May or June. I got it without the blizzard beading because I wanted to do a crystal sash for the dinner party and the little peach-colored beads would limit my choices for sashes and jewelry.  I love sashes, but in the Gemma case you need to think well which sash elongates your body instead of cutting it. The crystal ones tend to cut it so think about trying just plain ones in soft beige or soft pink colors (which you can then match to your bouquet – and soft colors would look nicer if you do a long veil because everything would blend in from the back). If you get it with the blizzard beading you can try the same sash, which is very subtle. Another option is to do both – have a plain sash in the ceremony and then a crystal one in the party  to dress it up – for the crystal one, I would try different widths to see which one flatters you the most. I love black sashes too but with other VW dresses, not the Gemma. But anyway, I think that the dress is soooooo unbelivably breathtaking that any way you decide to go with would look gorgeous on you!!  Hope this helps.

First off, you look great in your dress 🙂 I think those kinds of dresses tend to look best with a sash, it avoids the problem of looking like a seven foot-long torso, plus there are so many beautiful sashes to chose from! It’s a great way to accesorize. (my opinon may be biased because I love sashes so much)

Beautiful dress! I have seen tons of pics of this dress and my sister-in-law wore it for her wedding. I think it looks lovely with the sash in your picture but I have to admit that, in general, this dress is one of the rare mermaid dresses that I vastly prefer without a sash. I think there is just so much detail in the skirt that a sash is unnecessary and can create too many cuts in the body. Either way, it will look gorgeous though! Congrats!

The dress looks beautiful on you! I’m also a huge fan of sashes though, so my vote is definitely for a sash! I just love the way that it accentuates the waistline and adds more of a curvy shape.

I’m a Gemma as well.  I say definitely wear a sash- even if it’s the plain understated ribbon.  It just breaks up the dress a little and gives it a nice balance.

I have seen the Gemma blizzard beading sash and I don’t like it at all.  It is the same gauzy fabric as the dress, and is kind of double layered with the sequins inbetween.  I don’t think it adds anything to the dress.  I would advise against it- it’s barely like you’re even wearing a sash.  The store should be able to order it for you to check out though.

@ChiCityBride:  It really goes to show that it is all personal opinion! I am also a gemma bride and I really like the blizzard beading sash. I still haven’t made my final decision, but I am leaning towards that one (the other one I am considering is the vanilla grosgrain sash, which is also very subtle and pretty). For me, I prefer the dress with no sash in the front, but I love the bow in the back, so the blizzard beading sash sort of gives that illusion – like you said, it is very subtle in the front, you almost can’t see the sash that well, but you have a beautiful tulle bow in the back. So, it is a good combo for me. I feel like the dress already has a lot going on with the skirt, so having a contrasting sash in the front cuts my lines a lot. I think having no sash/a subtle sash makes me look longer and leaner. Here is a pic of my fav bride in the dress, who is not wearing a sash!

That being said, the dress is beautiful either way! Sash or blizzard beading sash or no sash 🙂 I also think it depends on your body type – I have seen some brides that look gorgeous with a blingy sash on this dress! I can’t wait to see pics of how everyone chooses to accessorize their gemma!

I am so in LOVE with the Vera Wang Gemma – I too will be  Gemma bride!  My first fitting will be in December, so excited!

I don’t like the way the sash looks on this dress, the dress is so beautiful on it’s own – the sash cuts up the dress too much in my opinion!

    Congrtultions, you look beautiful!
