@TXBRIDE2013:  I am biased, but I vote the third pair because that’s the pair I’m probably getting for myself. I don’t really like the bronze colour in this shoe, so I wouldn’t pick the second pair. The first pair are also lovely, but not sure you could wear them again as they are very bridal.

@val19flynn:  I’d say once you get the dress altered and it fits tightly against your bust, you’ll find you won’t feel like you need a bra. Mine’s really fitted at the bust and granted, my bust is small anyway, but I still feel like it gives good support and shape. I won’t be able to fit a padded or push up bra underneath, but I’m more than likely going to have cups sewn in as they are thinner. Or i may just go commando!

Ahh, that’s a shame about  our dates being so close! Yes, mine has the ivory beading but it’s so subtle that I think the darker crystals would have looked okay.

Also, I think you and Francois are right about the dress being an ex-sample. I can’t imagine it could look that terrible after only being worn once before as a pre-owned.

What veil did you pick for yours?

Did anyone else get the square edge chapel length veil from Vera Wang?

I feel like it’s too flat on my head. It’s almost like a drop veil. It’s got two layers – the really long layer and a shorter layer. It has no gathering at all on the comb. When laid flat, it’s basically a rectangle with the comb sewn in the middle.

I like the look of veils with more volume on top, but I’m not sure if i should keep the veil as it is for simplicity, since there’s so much volume at the bottom of the gown already.

When I ordered it from VW, I requested a chapel veil, and the lady said this is the one that Vera recommends for this gown, so I just went with it without asking anything else.

Is it possible to wear a second veil on top to make it look poofier? This would make it three layers/tiers though, or should I leave it as is?

I really like the dress in this photo.  Althou I think Ill go or a little more volume myself.  I saw an add where she is selling her gown on preowned label size 14.

@Vera Girl:

Sounds great I can’t wait to get it now only weeks to go so exciting!  I think once its fitted commando will be fine lots of brides dont wear any, be more comfortable too 🙂

I know its such a pity, the sash would match the ivory beading alright I wasnt told about the ivory beading when I ordered 🙁 I just presumed when they were talking about beading it was only available in blush.  I knew I was going to order the sash so didn get it.

If you look at VW dresses on preowned sites you will come across the sashes and just e-mail the brides and ask if they will sell.  You will be able to sell it after your wedding also I’ve had lots of queries about the sash already.  They are very popular and nicer in person.  In fairness they do look very expensive.

I would put money on it that it was a sample almost dragged down from wear & tear.  Even if the dress was passed to a third bride I don’t think it would look like that.

I think your veil looks lovely.  But yes I know what you mean.  I couldn’t decide between cathedral and fingertip but I wanted volume at the top the flat veils looked awful on me.  I think its 2/3 tier kinda full on top.  I went for cathedral in the end.

@val19flynn:  Gosh, that bride is stunning, isn’t she? And that venue is amazing.

Her gown looks a little big on her though? I would like to have seen it a tad more fitted. She looks beautiful, nonetheless. She is rocking that reception gown though!

Is you cathedral veil like hers? Are you having your hair down or up?

@val19flynn:  Thanks for posting the link, Val!

One thing to note about this gown being a “14” in the preowned ad- she had it taken in to under 30″ around the hips. I think it’s that size because of her bust. I even emailed her to see if it was a typo in the ad, but she confirmed it. Then, if you look at the gown in one of the forward facing photos, you can see they had to alter the join-line completely in order to pull of such a dramatic alteration. I think she looks lovely, but I think that may be why it looks “looser” in some areas than in others

I just got back from my first fitting. A little hiccup in that it seems like the cut of my dress was smaller than the size it should be but am waiting on them to get back to me regarding how it’s going to be fixed. Regardless, I fell more in love with it today. I cannot wait to wear it. I’m going to add crinoline to the front of it to make the skirt a little more poufy.

@techie – Can’t wait for the goodies. how much is the madame paulette’s gift card for if you don’t mind me asking? I know that they are pricey so just curious.

@mjm2012: You look stunning!! What color beading did you opt for?  Did they alter the skirt any, or did they just raise it??

@TXBRIDE2013:  Thank you! i actually got it without the beading. They didn’t alter the skirt or raise it, the only difference is that they will add in the crinoline in the front so they won’t have to shorten too much.

Also, love the first pair of shoes. Love.

@shoegal_622:  Nice detective work Cool That explains the fit then.

@mjm2012:  You look lovely! I didn’t realise you could get crinoline at the front only! That’s such a great idea, as I love the back just as it is!

Are you wearing a sash with yours?

@mjm2012:  You look amazing!  What is your height if you don’t mind me asking?  Are you wearing any heels in the picture?  It seems the rosettes are poofier on the Gemma’s without the beading, anyone else notice this too?

@Vera Girl:  thank you! yes, my seamstress said to just add to the front. i’m not wearing a sash, i’m keeping it all very simple and just the dress as is. i also had an issue with the bust. dress fits me to a t in the waist and hips but they need to let out the bust a good amount and i’m only a b cup as well.

@kn8973: thank you! I’m only 5’2″ and yes, i’m wearing about 3″ heels in this picture. i didn’t even notice the poofiness, it will be even poofier with the crinoline.

@mjm2012: Oh wow 5’2 and no skirt alterations?! Thats awesome!! I’m 5’1 and thinking I will be needing the skirt raised. But yours looks like it fits just perfect so maybe if I find 5 inch heels I won’t need any skirt adjustments.

@kn8973:  i think i’ll need the skirt raised a little bit but not as much as if i didn’t have the crinoline added.
