@whimsicarol:  this exact thing is happening to me…i totally feel for you!! i purchased a vera wang ethel online and she said it was in excellent condition, professionaly cleaned, and it is in horrible condition, torn, frayed, discolored.  I paid ALOT of $ through paypal and am soooo disappointed my wedding is in a month and i have no dress :(.  I can’t afford to purchase brand new and they don’t sell VW where i live.  if you have a chance can you PM?

@DrMrsYu:  I paid a lot for it 🙁 I found a good seamstress in Brentwood but it’ll cost a lot more than I want to spend to fix it.  Even then, it won’t look right. I just want to get my money back & look for a different dress (or get a brand new one). This whole experience is totally ruining the Gemma for me. I haven’t attempted to fix it because I need to keep it in the condition that I received it for the PayPal dispute.

@whimsicarol:  =) did you mean olivia? she is amazing! perhaps bringing the dress to her and see what she can do? or see if you can return it? 50% is a lot! wish you the best. at least you still have a lot of time.

honestly i washed my dress and its sitting pretty in a preserved box, i didnt even dare to open and look at it, i wonder if they mess up the dress in the process of cleaning. I wonder if this is the case of the seller? without even seeing it and just going by the condition that the cleaner told them?

plus i also didnt know how delicated/fragile a wedding gown especially one by vera could be until walking around in one, im pretty sure i ripped 1-2 if not more of those beading strips but turning and steping on it

@Happiestbridetobe:  i think even the new ones have a little bit of those raw edge finish, at least i saw some on my gemma too, if the length permits, perhaps you can try trimming the ends? since time is limited?

@DrMrsYu:  I think the lady I found is Anne with A Stitch In Time. I need to find this Olivia 🙂

I know the seller knew the condition of the dress because she refused to send me more pictures saying it was hard to move around with her pregnancy and that she guarantees the dress is how she received it from VW.

She already sent me detailed photos of the beading, the inside bust area (with a Post-It with my email written on it) of the dress after it had been cleaned so I know she knew the condition it was in after getting it back from the dry cleaners.  Looking back, she chose the areas that were in the best condition to send me the pics.

She also didn’t want to use Escrow.com because “With Escrow, they release the payment to me only after you have Gemma and agree to everything as described, when I can already guarantee you as demonstrated in the pictures, the authenticity and quality. I can guarantee you Gemma is just as beautiful as I bought her and straight from Vera Wang Toronto!  (as shown in all the pictures).”

@DrMrsYu:  yes the new ethels do have alittle raw edges, i didn’t want to post ALL the photos those were just two i had saved on my desktop there is so much more its unwearable – missing buttons, torn and shredded ruffles, discolored dress looks yellow, threads torns and coming apart.   I can’t believe someone would sell a dress like this.

Ladies who got scammed – if you used a major credit card with your PayPal transaction, I’d recommend going through a credit card dispute!

I had a problem with an Etsy seller, and VISA sent me my money back very quickly. PayPal then put a hold on her account. Originally, PayPal wasn’t going to do anything for me.

@Happiestbridetobe:  I’m so sorry that this has happened to you. Its evil, cruel and unfair. I hope the bee that sold it to you ultimately reaps what she’s sown. If the cleaner destroyed this dress then surely she would have got compensation for it. I know that bees are suggesting that someone attempt to fix it for you but it looks like its been through a shredder! Is it too late to purchase a dress that has the same effect as the VW Gemma?

@whimsicarol: I also wanted to use escrow.com but the seller said they don’t have escrow.com out of the US and to use paypal.  It been 3 weeks and I still have not had a resolution and I paid by checking account not incur feed using a credit card.

@whimsicarol:  Sooooo sorry this happened to you guys! I really hope there’s a resolution soon. And while I can’t imagine how hard it is to be dealing with this, I’m really grateful you shared your experiences. It educates potential preowned buyers like myself
