Weddingbees!!! Im happy to finally show my dress!! I had it made because as Gemma lover I wasnt able to afford the real gemma so I had it made I tried making some differences and they added a nude to it to give it some edge im not sure if I want to keep it or just do it all white – I enhanced one picture to show the all white only- suggestions on how I should wear it? The only picture I dont have with me is one with the train showing except the one with a bustle

I now have my Gemma with ivory beading in my closet and have to choose where ‘m getting my alterations done. Have any Gemma brides chosen to not have alterations done at the store where they purchased their dress? I’m not living close enough to where Ipurchased the dress for it to be a option. I live in the northern Virginia/ DC area if any brides have had any luck with alterations in the area.

Also, I’m planning on ordering a Vera Wang veil. How long did it take from ordering to you having it? I’m wanting to get a simple cathedral veil with blusher.

@peonyinparis:  Did you have to deal with customs/duties when getting your dresses from another country? I’m getting my dress from Toronto (shipping to Los Angeles) and I’m pretty worried about the dress getting stuck in customs.

@whimsicarol:  I was worried about that too, but luckily the sellers were all really great about marking down the value of the dress. I didn’t get hit with any customs duties, but I’m not sure whether that’s because Chinese customs is a bit hit-and-miss anyway. My experience is that parcels sent via USPS usually get away without being taxed, whereas the courier companies like DHL and UPS usually end up attracting taxes for some reason. Do you know what the import duty threshold is for California, and what the seller valued the dress at on the customs form?

@sjones22:  I’m not in the NoVA area anymore, but I still have family there! I’ll ask around and see who did my cousin’s wedding gown alterations and how they were to work with!

I’m in love with Gemma by Vera Wang.. BUT. I’ve never been very comfortable with strapless gowns. I’m thinking about adding straps to the dress similar to this.

thoughts on that?

Well, I was scammed by another bee. She sold me a dress that was damaged by the dry cleaners & lied to me about the quality. She guaranteed in email that it’s the same quality as when she received it from the Vera store but the dress she sent & the dress in her wedding photos are drastically different. I don’t know who would do this to someone but it’s really terrible & stressing me out. I filed a PayPal claim so I hope they rule in my favor.

So I wanted a cute shoes picture to show off my Kate spade pump so I tried lifting up the train to take that picture, this is how it turned out 🙁 my dress looked dirty, just ruined the whole picture. they didnt bother helping me photoshop it. is there a trick to how to do this? Obviously this is too late, but would be interested to know. I think I’m doing it wrong
