Can you call the salon and ask them how long they think hair will take?  I went off their timeline, and they were spot on.

I might think about leaving more time for family pictures.  We had about 12 people in our family that we were trying to do pictures with before the ceramony (including our “first look” pics, and it was a chaotic mess because people were all over the place and the photographer wanted to take a hundred photos of each group.  Also, you will want some time to fix your hair pee or just have a moment to yourself between pictures and the ceramony!

Yes, move everything up an hour for sure. On average it will take 1 hour for the bride and 30 mins for each additional person. With your existing timeline that has you finishing dead on 1 and that doesn’t allow for any errors or down time – you want it to be relaxed and enjoy a mimosa and taking pics etc. Everything else looks fine to me.

I would move it forward an hour, put it into a table in word or excel with some additional detail – i.e. what order is everyone going to get their hair done in? – and then I would run it by the key vendors involved to get their input. As PP said they are very helpful with stuff like that as they do it all the time. Include also the vendors/venues names and contact numbers and then you can give it to your Maid/Matron of Honor on the day so she can give you a hand keeping on track and call any vendors quickly and easily if needed.

I would give yourself more time for pictures on the front end. Just walking from one spot to another is going to eat up thirty minutes, so unless you are doing just pics during a first look and no where else at the venue, that’s not hardly enough time at all. I’d cut down the bridal luncheon, or let your family eat while you move forward with getting ready sooner. You need to eat but you don’t need to sit for an hour and I expect I’d be too excited and jittery to relax at that point anyway.

My bridal hair and makeup are an hour each.

Also, you should have closer to 2 hours to do all your shots (first look, bridal portraits, bridal party and family) before the ceremony.

Yes, move it up to 9:00am start time. Have ALL your photos done by 4:30pm (30 minutes prior to Ceremony start time). Things will take longer than planned, and the extra 30 minutes will let you and Fiance relax (snack & hydrate!) and hide before the guests start entering the venue.

edobbs87 :  It can’t hurt to move up the hair appointment. Is everyone who is getting their hair done going to the luncheon? Hair can take a while…I’d move it up and and you have extra time at lunch or to get a cup of coffee between hair and lunch.. great!

We had a 5pm ceremony as well, and started hair and makeup (for just me and my sister) at 11am.  We planned to have first look photos at 1:00 but were running late and didn’t start them until 1:30.  By the time my FI and I finished our pics alone, we were still rushing to get our family photos done before the ceremony and didn’t finish them until 4:40.  I would skip the luncheon all together!

Also, our venue recommended we be done with family photos by 4:30 at the latest, so we could go “hide away” before guests arrived and saw all of us.  In reallty, we finished with only like 15 min to spare.  So you may want to re-think having your family photos going right up until the ceremony start time.

Photos are really important – they are all you’ll have left at the end of big expensive day!  You do not want to be stressed or rushing through them or you won’t like the results.

I don’t think you’re giving enough time for hair. There were 5 of us and my hair stylist and MUA started us at 8am sharp and we’re just finished in time for 1 o clock for our 2 o clock wedding.

edobbs87 :  That’s tough, I understand.  I just can’t imagine having had time for a social luncheon that day!  On my timeline I barely had time to wolf down a protein bar during hair and makeup.  Could you get your makeup done before it too then, so you’re less rushed getting over to pictures?  Plus then you’d have your face done for the luncheon photos.
