So we aren’t getting married until June 22, but we’re getting gifts off our registry in the mail. When is it appropriate to send thank you cards? After the wedding? Immediately?
People have been very generous, I want to make sure I don’t offend anyone!

Send the card ASAP, so that the sender knows that you received the gift.

Send the thank you immediately. You can say something like “We are getting very excited for the wedding and can’t wait to see you there!” or “You will be missed at the wedding but we promise to share lots of photos” depending on if they are coming or not.
And keep a spreadsheet of who sent what when and noting the date you sent the thank you card. As more stuff rolls in, especially in the couple weeks before the wedding, it can be hard to keep track of who sent what and if you sent thank you notes. It will give you peace of mind to have it all written down!

I sent my thank you cards right away. I didn’t want to take the chance and forget to send it and it ended up great. We heard from a lot of people who were impressed at how quickly we sent out thank you’s!

@irishphoenix: as soon as you recieve it. then you won’t forget or miss it and they know the item arrived

Thanks guys, that was my guess too! I’ll send them out once a week as gifts roll in. Then it won’t feel as daunting after the actual wedding. 🙂
