I definitely feel like this is helpful but a lot of it is very formal/not neccessary for more casual weddings/not used in every area. But a lot of it is stuff I never would have thought before, thanks!

Definitely breaking 10 and 11.

I don’t care much for it. I will always break 9 – the address *should* be included. Except in hard-to-find country locations, a map is less use than an address. Everyone owns either a street directory or a GPS.

Also missing in step 11 is something very important: the names of the people being invited.

10, 13 and 15 depend on local custom.

I really don’t understand why you have to address by hand.  My hand writing is not consistant, and I don’t want to have to pay someone to address them.  Can’t I just print out labels, and use a fancy font?

This all sounds a little stuffy and old-fashioned. . .

I think that the overall etiquette should reflect your guest population and tone of your wedding.

Sorry, but #6 is incorrect. A zip code is a must for timely delivery. You’d be surprised how many states have similar towns. I once mailed a card to my brother in Mexico, Maine (abbreviated ME) It first went to Mexico, Missouri (MO).

Zip codes are the first item a piece of mail is sorted by.

On another note…when did it become improper to include registry information? I always appreciate knowing where/what to shop for.

why not include the street address? that seems overly complicated. I recently attended a wedding where the direction card was incorrect so I feel this is just plain bad advice.

LOL, I feel like this has some really outdated/overly stuffy rules.

@MOB1time:  I’m pretty sure the zipcode reference is for on the invitations to indicate the venue address, not on the envelope (since it says it would clutter the invitation).
