I know we have quite a while to make decisions and such but I am a “Now” kind of person. We found the reception venue & put a hold on our date with our church. We are putting an initial deposit on the reception venue by August to lock in the 2013 rates.
Now, I am going to be doing a lot of DIY crafts. I already have the STD’s and invitation designs in my head. I want to start desiging and starting these crafts. I want to start making everything now. I want to start shopping for wedding dresses. I want my wedding party to start looking at dresses they like so I can get their opinions.
Is it too soon to start working on my STD’s and invitations? I know I can wait til like January to start trying on dresses (least we will only be 16 months away from the date). I at least got to start my first project – wedding planner! My binder is soo full right now with vendor leads. But it is making my life a little easier and I am OCD with organization.
Anybody else start any other planning aspects of their 2015 wedding?

I am already married, but I know how hard it is to wait. There is no harm in looking, but don’t burden your BMs by looking at dresses a year and a half in advance. That inlcludes your wedding dress too. Look for styles you like and try some on, but don’t fall in love or buy one right away because many girls end up with dress regret. I would wait for the 1 year mark or even later than that. Honestly, my tastes changed so often, even in a few months. I started with one idea for something DIY and ended up with something totally different because I liked something more 2 months later.
I don’t think there is any harm in starting your STD’s though, especially if you are designing them yourself and plan to make them all by hand.
Trust me, you don’t want to start a bunch of DIY projects and then in 6 months decide you hate them. You will be super stressed out. Start doing your STDs and putting a deposit on the venue, DJ, photographer and church. Most cake places and flower shops won’t do anything until you are a year out, at least ours wouldn’t.

@ecrowe1218: I would also consider moving this post to the wedding part of the site, not by month. You might get more 2015 brides to respond 🙂

@megz06: I am playing around with a few designs for the STD’s. We have to wait until Sept to book the church, that’s when their 2015 calendar is out. Our venue is pretty much set, just need the initial deposit. We will put that down after July 5th because that’s when we will make our final decisions after viewing a set up of a wedding.
Luckily our venue also comes with the cake place and floral shop for our centerpieces. Only other thing I’ll need is DJ and photographer.
