teamkevargie: We are in Toronto too and have a 10k budget (or less if possible) and about 100 guests. Mom is gicing me 1.3k toward the dress, accesoiries. We looked far and wide as we neded to keep our reception cost at 5k (hall, open bar, booze, table/chairs/table settings) and the other 5k is for everything else (photographer, limos, dj, stationery, beauty, gifs, rings…) and just couldnt do it even for a Friday wedding. I wanted it to be in June-Sept window, not off season. There was just nowhere that we could find that we liked where we could have the reception for 5k include. We checked out Lakeview by Carmen and it was almost possible and we were willing to do it but they didntbhave any of our prefered dates that were in June-Sept dindow and didnt coinside with birthdays or graduations… so we had to give that idea up (I had my bridezilla moment then, ugh) they book fast and well in advance so movebon it if you want a spot!!
Anyhoo long story short… we decided to do a rustic cottage BBQ wedding. We are taking over a small cottage resort for 3 nights in the Kawarthas region. There are 6 cottages, we are staying in one, FIs parent, brother and wife in another, my mom and siblings in another and the other 3 are filled by the wedding part and their SO. Each cottage is 120-130/night based on 4 people. So our famies and bridal party are paying istheir way and we are paying for the one we are staying in. There is no other fees for the property othet than $10pp for anyone guest who comes onto the property on the wedding day (about 75peple) that we will cover. So basically that and our cottage is costing us 1k.
There are BBQ cateres we are loookng into at the moment and their cost is around 15-25pp. For a self serve BBQ buffet. So on average it will be $20pp. So food will be about 2k. We are allowed to supply our own booze and we will be doing mostly beer and maybe a bit of wine for the non beer drinkers (minority) and maybe some coolers? Idk yet. Most of FI’s family lives near/around Montreal so we will have his brother and dad buy booze there and bring it in his pick up. All we need is to get ice and containers. Anyways our booze budget as about 1.5k so now we are at 4.5k with a $500 cushion (for ice, containers, plastic cups).
Since we are not doing limos and dj… we are spending that money on renting some chairs/tables and washrooms (their are on a septic system so having that many ppl on the property is a no go for their washrooms… so thay said we have to rent washrooms.) Not sure how much the tables/chair/washrooms will be but i estimate at about 1k And we are also putting a deposit in on a tent and will watch the weather. If possible we will cancel the tent last minute and lose the deposit vs getting it and paying like 1k for it.. we will see. We are jot having a dance floor and will have a list on an ipodnor laptop and one of FI’s close friends is the MC&in charge of the music. We are bringing our pwn speakers. And who ever wants to dance can dance on the grass or the beach lol. I will have to look into getting table cloths for the tables maybe rent from the same company as the tables idk yet. And we are not doing place settings everyone sits where they wants amd walks around as they please,it’s a family BBQ after all, celebrating us 🙂 so it’s very easygoing.
I am gonna be bying most flowers at Costco (about 500$ and my sis is a new grad floral designer will be making the bouques and cetrepiece with me. We are DIYing mason jars and vintage botyle with lace and pearls a bit on a vintagy side. Im budgetting about 1k for decor ($500 for flowers and $500 for everything else) So the tables will have a centre piece but otherwise look very casual.
The best man’s wife is a pastry chef, own her own little store so most likely the cake will be a gift (he hinted at it).
We found a photograoher we love for 1k for the whole entire day! Meeting with her soon to lck it down!
The officiant is charging $300. The wedding licence is $140 plus tax.(?) So the cost of ceremony is $500 on the property by the water. Mom is volunteering to buy an arch sis will decorate it with fake flowers and tull idk the budjet for this but estimating at $150 tops for that. The chair will be the same as the ones for the BBQ so we need to figure out who will be able to pit them from cerekony site to around the tables. This is giving me a bit of a freak out but im sure we will figure out a way for someone to do it during “cocktail hour” while we are doing posed pics after the ceremony with family..
The “cocktail hour” will consist of beer/wine/coolers and random chips and dips (we will make it) and cheese with crackers and that’s it, eazy peazy.
So with my rough calculations we are sitting at about 9k taxes in. And the other 1k is for rings, gifts for parents and brial party and favours (I have 2 idead at 1.5-2 $/pp) may skip those. And the statiknary is no more than $250 all together. So we kinda fit into the 10k budget as you can see.
The only thing im trying to figure out is beauty (depending on the cost of dress/accesories/alterations, maybe i’ll have some left over for beauty) or if not ill figure it out. Also my FIs outfit (he wants to wear khakis and a white shirt) And another thing is im wondering if im supposed to buy the flower girl’s dress and help with bm dresses….
FI’s parents have not mentioned contributing anything yet (but i think they will, maybe pay for the booze idk as thir wedding gift) we will have enough wiggle room on the budget for the few things I mentioned at the end that I’m not sure about. And if wenhave to we will put it on credit and pay off with some of the gift money.
We are not registering and in our circle/family it means we want $ lol so $ we shall get.
