You might want to talk to your doc about your long cycles b/c it could be a sign of PCOS. I had really long cycles coming off of the pill, but they eventually evened out and I was averaging around 30. I’d definitely just check with your doc to make sure all is ok…especially if you’re looking to have kids in the future.

My periods are SUPER irregular, so I can’t even begin to answer this question.

Mine were insanely irregular before bc. I’m now off the bc and they’ve become a little more consistent, though not predictably so. I time it by paychecks. If 2 paychecks have passed and I haven’t seen anything I start paying attention. 🙂

My period’s been all over the place over the past 15 years… was pretty regular between the ages of 10-15 and then I gained a TON of weight sophomore year of high school and they stopped completely. I got maybe 1 a year or less between 15-20 and then I got on the pill and they were super regular for a year… had bloot clots and got off the pill and they went into a weird irregular cycle where I’d sometimes get nothing for 2-3 months and then a FLOOD for 2 weeks straight.

Now I’m back to a pretty regular 28ish day cycle and I couldn’t be more pleased. Exercising regularly and losing weight seems to have helped my body get back on track.

to put it into perspective, before this cycle I just had that started new years day, the prior cycle was all the way back in June 2011. I have pcos. We just started Clomid so we are really hopeful this works for us. It already made me ovulate this past month. 🙂

edit with the tmi version: The longest I ever bled from a period was close to two months straight, and the longest I have ever been without a period is about 8 months. It is totally unreliable and although I have in the past ovulated on my own, that comes maybe once every couple of years.

@SoupyCat:  When you do have long cycles attributed to PCOS, there are times that you will not ovulate at all. There are a ton of ladies on the TTC boards who are dealing with PCOS and anovulation. The fact that you don’t want kids makes the diagnosis easier to deal with, but I would definitely ask your doctor when you’re there next to just run some tests to make sure all is ok.

I have PCOS and when/IF I ovulate, my cycles around around 38-40 days. If I am annovulatory, that’s when they start going into the 50-60 range. Ugh!
