@catracha:

If you have enough documentation and photos to win then do it, they should not be allowed to get away with ruining your big day and with such shoddy service. If they left the bar unattended you could even have them lose their liquor liscence which would be a fitting punishment. First, contact a lawyer and have them draft a letter to the caterer telling them unless they refund you $x then you will take them to court and submit an article to your local paper. A company like that relies on their reputation, if you threaten to ruin it and you can PROVE your accusations they should refund your money to avoid court. If you do take them to court, like I said, have lots of photos, witnesses, and reciepts to show what you paid for. They are trying to take advantage of you, if they broke your glasses and plates they should NEVER have charged you to replace them. If they wont refund your money, ruin their reputation in the papers and online so no bride gets her day ruined by them as well.

Trust me, just having a lawyer will get you far, people do NOT want to be taken to court. It is a powerful threat to a service based company.

Yuck. What a mess. I’m sorry your beautiful day turned out like that.

On another note, we’d love to see pics of the good parts of your day!

Talk to a lawyer, many will write a letter and give you advice for a flat fee, you dont even have to fully hire one unless you actually go to court.

Put up bad reviews on every site you can think of.

Get a lawyer and contact them. Hopefully the threat of a lawyer will make them give you money back.

I’m so sorry to hear that this happened to you. How unprofessional!

I’m sorry this happened to you. It stinks that you couldn’t just enjoy your day. I would take them to court.

Plan a really amazing vow renewal! Some people have vow renewals that are full-on second weddings. Save up and have it on your 5 or 10 year anniversary, you deserve it! It will give you something postive to look forward to. OR you could have a second reception, a smaller, more intimate one with close family and friends, my sister had her 2nd reception a month after her first one in two different parts of the country.
