My cycle has always been extremely regular, 28.5 days… until last month, when it started on the usual day, stopped, then started again. I attributed it to starting work at a new office with lots of women. (I know that’s not proven, but I couldn’t think of any other reason.) I timed my period again, and it started 28 days after the “new” cycle and ended after five days, as expected. No big deal.
Shortly afterward, I became extremely sick for a 24-hour period. I recovered in enough time to not to seek medical help, but during that time, I was bedridden with fever, chills, diarrhea, fatigue, and dull abdomen pain on the lower right side. After that, as I said, I recovered completely. I attributed it to food poisoning or some temporary virus.
But the day after, I started spotting. It’s about day 10 on my “new cycle,” and would be about day 13 on my old cycle. In every other way it looks like ovulation discharge, but it’s brown, and I have never seen that before.
I know this is a long shot, but I don’t think a doctor would be able to provide a definitive answer, and probably would not want to make conjectures at this point either. From your experience, you think I should worry? I’m 37 and ironically, we officially started TTC two months ago. So I’ve had regular periods right up until the time that we started TTC. Obviously, we’re going to keep going, but I’m worried.
