@cloverbug:

I just realized that this is actually asking for advice! My SO is doing the dental school interview waiting game (and from what you’ve written here, they seem slightly similar).

I think our biggest issue is the school he is interviewing for next week, and his #1 choice, is in Boston. I am currently working on a legal studies degree, which could prepare me for law school, but I’m using it as a paralegal degree. Now. Boston is full of recent/current law students, there’s no need for a paralegal from a small midwest school there.

His #2 choice is in a place where I want a job really badly, the school and the place I have an interview for an internship (to start) are only 3 miles apart!

I know while he is in dental school, I will probably end up doing most of the work, making money, cooking, cleaning, etc. So I think it’s important for me to be able to find a job. Though, if he only gets one choice, he only has one choice. Somehow everything always works out!

Congrats! What an exciting and scary time! I’m applying to physician assistant schools this summer and not knowing if I’ll get in anywhere is scaring me! My Fiance is going to be working full time somewhere, and it’s not known whether or not I’ll be able to go to school near him. Luckily it’s only 3 years

Congratulations! Getting to the interview is one of the hardest parts! My Fiance started vet school this past fall (CO), and I was in the position of your Fiance, knowing that I was going to also go wherever he was accepted. Luckily, he got into his top choice in a location where I already had a job, so the stars aligned for us! I hope the same happens for you as well.

Being in the same position as your Fiance, I think it’s really important that you make sure that the school you choose not only works well for you, but that your Fiance also has a chance to make a life in the new location as well. We only moved 1 hour north for Vet school, but it has still been really hard at times adapting to moving away from what I know, my friends, and adding 45 miles to my commute each way for my Fiance to go to school. In the beginning, we definitely had some arguments that stemmed from me feeling under appreciated for making that change so he could follow his dreams. Obviously I was happy to do it, but I still wanted to be patted on the back :).

Another thing to keep in mind is that you will automatically have about 100 new friends in your vet class, whereas your Fiance just moved somewhere new for you, and probably doesn’t know anyone outside of work. It’s super important to remember this so he doesn’t feel set-aside while you spend so much time with your classmates.

So excited for you 🙂 hope you get into your first choice!

@cloverbug:  Best of luck with your #1 school!

I’m also in my application period so I understand how stressful it is!

@cloverbug:  I’m actually applying to law school. (Sorry, I should have been more specific.) I’ve already gotten most of my decisions, now Darling Husband and I are just trying to decide if I should go to one of the lower ranked schools on a full ride or pay to go to a higher ranked school. The job market for lawyers is terrible these days, so we’re leaning towards free. Such a stressful time!

By the way, I used Northwest Essay (http://www.northwestessay.com) to edit my essays. They were fast and a great value!
