Anybody have their reception in a VFW hall or something like that? We’re considering his dad’s Elks club. It’s a very blank space, with linoleum (sp?) floors and 8ft banquet tables. The lights are like florescent lights, not on dimmers… What can I do to make this a beautiful reception? On a very tight budget…

Hmm, you could get some nice uplighting and linens…
I thought about using a VFW hall too, but by the time we would have fancied it up, it would cost just as much as a hotel ballroom. But it could be totally different if you’re creative and can get a good deal on the space.
Any space can be made pretty with the right decor.

A lot of my friends have gone this route. With twinkle lights covered in tulle, some uplighting, some chinese lanterns and a backdrop rented from a prop company, they transformed the space for less than 300 dollars. it can be done!
