@Christy42213:  Im pretty sure those percentages are for men. Bodyfat is very different on men versus women.

@letigre:  Being pregnant and peeing ALL THE TIME my mind is blown. I just wish that this type of information was more prominent. Yes some women are naturally thin and lucky them but these particular women that are loved, adored and worshipped go through a regimen that is unnatural to look the way they do. They also have special make up touches here and there to accentuate or hide things that are deemed good and bad. Tyra Banks talks about this a great deal.

I’m sorry but these particular women in this particular setting should not be an inspiration to anyone.

@Christy42213:  Candice is definitely considered curvy by model standards. Her hip measurements are in fact larger than the average model. She may know how to accentuate that fact but it is a fact.

@letigre:  you’re right. they literally cannot have 1% body fat. I look like that and have 10% body fat usually.

Guess what, they work out a ton. They are models. They are paid to look awesome. It’s their JOB. These girls are healthy (for the most part) and most of them are happy and glad to be doing what they are doing.

@Chrissy26:  That’s fine, but it’s also a fact that her outfit sticks up off her hips making her hips/butt appear even larger than they are.

@Treejewel19:  I don’t think her prep routine seems that crazy.. There are a lot of people out there that go “on Atkins” and live off Atkins shakes or other meal replacement shakes for a lot longer period than 9 days. Yes, some include other foods (like a chicken breast or something) but it’s not like she starves herself. And as for the water/drinking routine, it seems like what some bodybuilders/fitness bikini competitors/wrestlers might do to prepare for a ‘performance’…

@Christy42213:  I had a six pack that is well defined at a higher body fat percentage. Bodies are different therefore fat is distributed differently and your percentages sound like they are for men

@E_Lynne615:  not to mention they are under the care of trainers and nutritionists. Plenty of people go on smoothie diets or something similar. As soon as the show is over they go back to how they ate before. Wrestlers and other athletes go through similar things in preparation for competitions. Again, it’s their job. They know what they are getting into and they think the traveling, money, other perks are worth it for now.

I think they are all beautiful. They’d all be beautiful no matter what size and shape they are. You could put my grandma out there in lingerie and as long as she had a huge smile on her face and was enjoying herself, she’d be beautiful in it too. The article below talks about what a “real woman’s” body type is, but I like the message in it.

Because on this beautiful, expansive planet, there are women of all shapes and sizes. Curvy hips and small breasts. Big breasts and small hips. A flat backside. A big belly. Wide arms. An invisible waist. Legs like toothpicks and xylophone ribs that you can see when they stretch.

What are they, if not real?

So, let’s settle this argument once and for all. We are all real women. We, the rail thin, are just as lovely as the curvy goddesses, the big-boned beauties, and the strong and sexy athletes. We’re all beautifully unique. And more than anything, our beauty sinks far deeper than the body that you see in that first glance. Our hearts are real. Our love is real. Our passion, our joy, our pain…”

@Barbiestylez:  I’m biased because I know a VS model (not one of the big names) and I know that she and some other models have eating disorders despite looking fit and toned. Obviously not every model has one, but not all of them are as healthy as is believed. I also know another model who is naturally very thin and not unhealthy, so I think it really depends on the person whether or not they are too thin. I definitely don’t think that one body type should be held as the ideal for all or most women, though.

I didn’t watch the show this year, but generally VS models are obviously thin, but very curvy and beautiful.

I know a lot of people are saying they are curvier than most runway models but a lot of the women in the show are high fashion runway models (Cara Delevingne, Constance Jablonski, Hilary Rhoda, and Cindy Bruna to name a few).

I don’t think they look too thin, but it would be nice to see some different sized girls out there too, just for variety lol

I also wanted to add that the hotel I worked at on the Northern California Coast actually had several VS models stay for three nights one year. This include Selita Ebanks and a few others that really blew up after the commercial. They were filming and taking photos in the area for an upcoming catalog. They did NOT look like they did on the runway.

@E_Lynne615:  It is quite similar to what body builders and fitness performance people do. My cousin in fact just did a bikini fitness competition in October. It all borderline crazy at times. In fact I showed the food list, prep and pre-competition plans and photos of my cousin to the entire staff at Crossfit. One of the trainers used to do bikini fitness competitions herself. Not one said that she looked or was behaving in a healthy manner. The trainer that did competitions reiterated what they endure to look the way they do and she does not condone this to any of her clients. Atkin’s and supplements are one thing but they are supplements as in addition to a healthy eating and lifestyle regimen. They are not replacements for all nutrition for a week or so at a time.

@Barbiestylez:  I think they’re naturally skinny girls who are very well toned. They don’t look overly skinny to me, just in very good shape! I think THAT is sexy, I’m thankful VS really doesn’t have models who are overly thin.

Every year after the fashion show I vow that I’m going to give up junk food, well this time I’m pregnant so at least I don’t feel bad about giving up that vow less than 24 hours later haha. Heck, if I got paid what they do to look that good, I’d bust my butt in the gym and restrict my diet too!
