I’m having trouble deciding on a video monitor…any experiences would be greatly appreciated! It is being gifted to me, so I’m not too worried about the price differences. I’m looking at:
Summer Video Monitor / Motorola Video monitor (seem pretty similar)
My friends with babies love both models. Requires a power converter (I live in a 220v country). Can’t view when out of the house. Both have 4 out of 5 stars on Amazon. Requires plugging in another thing (versus just using our phones)
Withings Smart Baby Monitor
Reviews are OK. I love the fact that I can just use my iphone or ipad but what if we are out and the babysitter can’t figure out the ipad (or we need to take it with us)
Any other recommendations? Thanks in advance!

@fsowife: I don’t have any personal experience with monitors just yet, but my Darling Husband and I are TTC, so we have been doing some preliminary research. Our friends (with an 18 month old son) have the Motorola one, and they LOVE it. They said they recommend it to everyone they know who’s expecting. And we were just on vacation with them last week and got to see it in action, and it definitely seems like a winner.

@fsowife: I don’t have an answer because I am only 23 weeks, but I talked to some sales reps at a baby store and they all said Motorola had the best customer satisfaction they’ve seen.
I was leaning towards a wi-fi monitor because i wanted to be able to access it while I was at work. However, the sales people told me that wi-fi monitors can only be accessed using the same wi-fi router as the camera, meaning it can only be accessed from your house. WTF?
A friend bought a normal webcam and set it up as a monitor that she could watch from her phone. Except she has issues in the house now when she’s using the phone as an actual phone and therefore can’t use it as a monitor at the same time.
So, I think I’m going simple and getting the Motorola.

@LoveMikey: @ExcitedScaredBee: Thanks so much! Sunds like the motorola is the way to go. I love the iphone option of the other monitor but it just sounds sooo complicated getting set up and using WiFi.
