Everyone that I know that has a wedding video enjoys it.  My grandmother still watches my mother’s wedding video it has been over 25 years.  I plan on having a wedding video.  I dont  know much about video budgets but I do know that there are now bells and whistles that were not avaliable in the 80’s.  I would do just the basic if budget is an issue.  You will still get “the warm fuzzies” with the memories of the day.

Haven’t had my wedding yet so I can’t give you a definitive answer, but we went for it. Nothing captures the actual feel of an event liKe video. And the audio will be great to have as well, especially of the ceremony. It’s one of those things where you won’t regret having it, but you might very well regret not.

ETA the packages I found were around 2500- 7k. I went for one in the middle because I wanted a high quality storyteller/ beautiful cinematographer (I worked in video production for years so I’m sure I’m pickier than most).

ellagrace:  l haven’t have my wedding yet, but Fiance and I went for it. Videos capture the day a way that photography cannot. I also love watching wedding videos you can see the excitement from both party before walking down the aisle that is something photography cannot capture. We went with our DJ they also do Videography, they are charging us 2000 for 2 videographer, hd type cinematography type and 5 minutes trailer and about 1 or 2 hours when everything is done.

Since I know you from jersey check Absolute celebration they very nice and affordable.

I did not have videography, and that is my one regret about my wedding. Photos are great, but I would love to be able to hear our voices, hear our first song, see things in motion…

If your budget is really tight, you could hire a college kid for cheap. It may not come out “super fancy” like some of these videos that are practically mini-movies, but the quality of any film today is so much higher than it used to be. I wish I had done that!

We could not afford it, it was so expensive. But I regret it. I really wish I would have budgeted for one. My Mother-In-Law videotaped the ceremony and then whoops, realized she never pressed record. Ugh

ellagrace:  We made the decison to go for it and it was worth EVERY PENNY.  We ended up paying about 2k.  We found a company that was new to the wedding scene so locked them in at a reasonable price (now their website say they start at 3k).

I LOVED my photos and thought they turned out beautifully, but our wedding highlight film brings on the tears. every. single time. I watch it.  The photos couldn’t capture the day like video could.  here’s a link to my highlight video if you’re interested.

We got all the full footage of the ceremony, toasts, dances, etc. but I love watching this over and over ๐Ÿ™‚

I used to work in Editing for movies and so I can appreciate having a video but it’s not in my budget to have one, so I plan on setting up one or possibly two camcorders during the ceremony in the corner just to get some video.  If it works out great, if not no big deal.  Also considering asking our Justice of the Peace to wear a Go Pro!

I am going to have a videographer – I’ve watched so many beautiful wedding videos that I’ve decided I am more excited/interested/passionate about that than photos. I’m spending $2300 for a package that comes with 2 videographers that stay for as long as you want them. They have a super package at $3000 that I desperately want but we’ll see if I have enough money at the end!
