Hello Fellow Bees!!
I want to have my wedding in Cancun or in a town that is in close proximity to Cancun but at a villa that i can rent for the day. Has anyone done this? Was is better (cost, flexibilty and creatively) than hosting your wedding at a resort? Im looking at the villas on Villas of Distinction website http://www.villasofdistinction.com/. I need HELP!! I have soo many ideas but I want to narrow things down and who else better to come to than the Beesvilla!?!? Any suggestions would be great (villa, vendors, officiant, etc). Im looking to host about 20-40ppl. My plan is to have my guests stay at an all inclusive hotel (everyone’s budget it different so not everyone would be staying at the same resort we are in). Most resort packages require the guests to stay or to pay a ridiculous price for a guest pass which i hate…i feel that money could be better spend elsewhere. I just feel i’d have much more freedom with the villa. PLease include prices if you can!! Looking forward to hearing from you all!!!
Oh FYI, Im having a big reception upon my return to NYC. So my bdget really is 6-7k for everything.

@itistrue: well officiant wise – this just popped up as one of my facebook suggested sponsored ads (as im having a playa del carmen wedding)
http://www.facebook.com/CancunWeddingOfficiant
http://cancunweddingofficiant.com/
But i admit ive never contacted them since i need a priest for a religious wedding.
if youre going to be staying at a resort and just want a non resort option for a wedding (not a villa) – one option is blue venado beach club in playa del carmen
– its about 15 mins from playa del carmen resorts
– completely private, and on a virgin beach far from the built up areas so the stars look awesome. i think youre allowed bonfires too (random info not sure why i included it)
– open for private events from 5. so depending on time of year you can have ceremony in daylight, some photos afterwards and a dinner with tiki torches and candles
for about 1500 dollars – you get minister, ceremony set up, some flowers. buffet is then about 45 dollars a head (and then there are food/drink packages). the food is awesome, they do homemade pasta
god ive just realised i sound like i work for them and ill get a commission or something hahaha, i dont! but PM me if you might be vaguely interested, i have pictures and details. its just i wanted a wedding in cancun/riviera maya but i knew i didnt want a standard resort wedding so i looked at lots of weddings
for villas, you could look on the best destination wedding forum. its got tonnes of info about both resort and non resort weddings in cancun, and im sure some people have rented villas before
