Ok, bees! I am having a very formal black-tie, yet very vintage (1960’s) style wedding with a few modern twists. We are getting married on my grandparents anniversary so I really want to go all out on the vintage!
My gown is a very full tulle rosette ball gown with a very beaded top and I plan on wearing a veil with a sleek ballerina bun (I am a very golden natural blonde) underneath and simple yet sparkly earrings and bracelet.
The men in the wedding are wearing classic black tuxes with white shirts and black bow-ties (like the photo). My fiancee actually looks almost just like the man in the photo, hair and all. Which is probably why I like that look in that photo so much!!
My bridesmaids are wearing lighter green dresses (very very similar to the photo, but more formal with an illusion neckline, organza overlay, and no belt) and both have very dark brown hair, which is a large contrast to my hair so I’m not worried about us all wearing updos. I want to pair their dresses with sleek and modern beehives (like the photo) and long, over the elbow gloves that match their dresses. I also plan on adding a very slender tiny bow to the beehive for a retro spin and simple pearl studs. I am wondering if you girls think this will look ok or if beehives are totally not acceptable? Really any opinions! I really do want to carry the 1960’s look all the way through the wedding.
We are also having the vintage floral and gold trimmed china and a formal “tea party” inspired reception. Our ceremony is taking place in a formal rose garden. Just so you ladies can get the full visual!
