The theme of your wedding should be your wedding.

‘Vintage carnival’ sounds more like a birthday party. Truth be told if I walked into a wedding where the couple had tried to make it ‘vintage carnival’ themed I would think it was silly and probably laugh about it with my SO later.

kelli7421:  I think it sounds like a really fun theme! I love the idea… It’ll be clear it’s a wedding not a birthday party… I think it can be done really well!

Photo op! How fun?!

Rides as table numbers, with roses in the jar.

Sorry for taking over with pictures here. But, there’s lots of fun things you can do, you can DIY tons of the games, and maybe even rent some of the more complicated games if you want. I would get in touch with a rental place in your area and see what options they have for you! A cotton candy machine would be awesome! Plus food trucks is a huge trend right now, that would work great!

kelli7421:  You’re welcome!  The idea came to me just as a joke because of a cake that I showed my dh that was very out there and he loved it.  It just kind of stuck and love the idea now.

kelli7421:  I knew someone who did this theme and it came out really cute! all the bridesmaids held large pinwheels instead of flowers when they walked down the aisle..

What a cool idea!!  Love the theme, decor, and the fact that your guests will be having so much fun. 🙂

You should check out the website Offbeat Bride, and Rock N Roll Bride for some inpsiration. There’s a lot of photos and source material on those websites for doing things a little differently.

kelli7421:  I think it sounds like a fun idea – you can have so much fun with the decor, food, games, etc. You can name your tables after favourite carnival games or rides  I agree with OMGMrsW2B: about checking out sites like Offbeat Bride for ideas

And frankly, the only “should” that’s required in a wedding is people getting married and if someone wants to laugh at the theme, well that’s their hang-up, not yours. I’m sure there are things about their wedding that others will find silly as well.

I think that this will be a really cool theme!  Maybe for the centerpieces you could see about getting old bottles and cluster them together and put roses in them, like vintage soda bottles (I know that if you google them you will get a lot of hits).

I just wanted to add that this is an awesome idea! As soon as I saw the topic I had to come look.  I don’t usually add to posts!!!

I would love to go to a wedding that was themed like this! So fun!!! Anyone that would think it was silly, whatever, I’m sure they aren’t that much fun anyways.
