I’ve been waiting to share this with you – I’m excited beyond words.
My mother owns a successful antique shop where I live, and is involved with estate sales once in awhile. About a month ago, she came home with an amazing vintage lace gown, from the early 1900’s. It was in mint condition, other than a large stain on the back. After weeks of work (biz bath, oxy bath, bleach on the stain), the dress is PERFECT. When we brought it home, it was a tea-stain color, which I was okay with. Now it’s a beautiful winter white color. I’m so happy!
Here are a few pictures, sans lining. (I’m wearing spanx and a corset under, so I’m not naked!) The lining was this really sad old silk that we ripped out. We’ll be lining it with a damask cotton in either pale pale pink or lilac. (Oscar de la Renta style 🙂 ) It also is being altered around the top, so please disregard the bunching in the back on the back photo 🙂
Let me know what you think so far!
