- Wedding: August 2013
Fiance and I found a much more preferable venue with an excellent price since it’s owned by the city right in downtown where we live. It’s a historic victorian house that belonged to a prominent family. The ceremony and reception area are outside. Volunteers are available to give the guests a tour through the house during appetizers (it’s all set up as if the family still lived there) which really excited me as an English major and lover of history. We can take pictures inside the rooms in front of all the vintage books. However, we want our theme more towards vintage than victorian.
The only concern I have is that the house is light blue with red trimming. I had initially wanted a green wedding but I feel like it clashes too much? So now I’m thinking that our color scheme might be blush and ivory with silver accents.
We might also do red with some black accents
I’ve also seen light blue with red as a color scheme which would work great but is not my favorite.
I’m not the biggest fan of light blue so I’m having trouble trying to pull together a coherent color scheme with this house. We want to have books as our centerpieces alongside our flowers. I love this venue except I’m a bigger fan of darker colors.
I really want our theme to be book, travel, european, vintage etc. My boyfriend will be brewing beer that we our considering giving to the adults as favors.
Any other ideas to go along with our theme?
Here is the house:
The dark trimming is actually red trimming.
