I’m wearing a Monique Lhuillier “Elle” gown which has an dropped waist lace bodice and a full tulle skirt. This dress looks very vintage because of the latte/ivory lace bodice. Do you think I can modernize it a bit by adding a sash and brooch and by wearing a birdcage veil? Anyone recommend a certain style of jewelry? I’m kinda starting to worry that my modern vintage theme is getting lost because my dress so vintage-looking and the venue is so modern. I wonder how I can tie everything together. Perhaps use crystal candelabra centerpieces to give the venue a vintage feel? Anyone have any suggestion? Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Your dress is beautiful! Adding a sash could look nice (although it looks like there is already a ribbon around the wasit?), but honestly I think a birdcage veil would make it look more vintage, not less. I know it’s a trend right now, but it grew out of the whole vintage trend. I would focus more on adding a vintage angle to your venue/decor than adding a modern angle to your dress. It is so pretty as is and you don’t want to cover that up.

I don’t think that dress looks all that vintage. Tulle on the outside of the dress is a pretty modern effect.

What else have you got going on? Already decided or purchased?

I agree that the dress doesn’t strike me as very vintage-looking, and I also agree that a birdcage veil would make it appear more vintage. You could change the sash to a black one, which is pretty modern and would look great. It’s very pretty!

It doesn’t look that vintage, tbh. Birdcage veil and a sash will make it look MORE vintage, not less. I agree with pps–try making the modern venue more vintage. It’s easier.
