My fiancé and I decided to use vintage old world globes as centerpieces. We’re getting married in a museum filled which is kind enough to open some of its galleries to our guests. They cover Egypt, Rome and some 1700s European artwork. My fiancé and I were also born about 2,000 miles apart. This idea seemed like a no brainer. (Each table would also be named for a city around the world that has a tie to our relationship and we want to scatter vintage postcards from each of those cities on their respective tables).
However we really need to soften up the table (chocolate brown table cloth and golden place settings). As you can see from the picture, it’s really looking dark. We were going to surround the globe with votives but we also want to incorporate flowers. Any suggestions? Ideas?

ABSOLUTELY LOVE THIS IDEA ! Good for you !
What about scattering white rose petals around the globe? Or even red or orange? I don’t know your other wedding colours.
Where would you put the votive candles?

I love the idea also! Looks great!

Really cool! Perhaps you could put a gold runner on the table? Honestly I think if you circled the votives around the globe it will warm up nicely. Maybe underneath the globe you could put a bunch of flowers, so it looks like theyre holding the globe up? if that makes any sense.

I agree that something fun would be a nice extra touch, but let me tell you this is one of the most beautiful and original ideas I have read in quite a while! Congrats!

Thank you for all your suggestions! It looks like we’ll absolutely have to add flowers to the mix. I think the idea now is to put bouquets of chrysanthemums on opposite sides of the globe and to encircle the globes with the tea lights. I’ll post photos post-September 5th if it actually works out!

Where did you get those globes? I’m doing a travel theme too and have been looking for something like that.

Oooh – me too! I thought this was such a cool idea – would love to see photos of the finished tables…… maybe we should message her directly and ask? (do people do that on here?)
