I’m thinking of The Homestead in Virginia – haven’t checked prices though, might be more than you want to spend.

I can’t think of a resort in Ohio, but in central/southern Ohio there is Hocking Hills, which is a huge park with some VERY nice cabins, some of which have pools/hot tubs/gorgeous kitchens… and there are tons of things to do like go canoeing, rafting, hiking, horseback riding, ziplining… if you’re outdoors types, it’s worth a look! I can’t think of too many cabins that would be more than 200 a night, unless is was like a 10 person one!

I was going to say Hocking Hills as well, which is just a little south of Columbus. So beautiful down there. I know a lot of people like to check out cabins in West Virginia as well. If you like gambling, you can always go to Oglebay, which is either in or just outside of Wheeling, WV. I have never been there, but I know people who enjoy going there. I would have said Put-in-Bay up at Lake Erie, but you said you weren’t beach types. That is a big party type atmosphere, though.

I got married in and grew up around Hocking Hills, Ohio so yes it is quite beautiful! As far as resorts, sorry can’t think of any in either of those states.

As pps have suggested Hocking Hills rocks, IDK about resorts, but some of the cabins are fabulous and in your price range. Im not sure if the OBX is in your NC or SC but they have some really nice rental homes as well.

I am totally saying Hocking Hills as well.  I’ve gone a few times with family and it’s awesome!

Ohio:

Hocking Hills (as mentioned above)

Amish Country B&B

Cedar Point (if you like thrill rides)

Put in Bay or Kelley’s Island (depending on what you enjoy)

wineries

(the above 3 are all in the same area and can all be done within a week or long weekend!)

Canaan Valley WV has a resort. Limited things to do, all outdoorsy stuff but all FH thinks we need is a bed and even that is optional =p
