Hello — We’re hoping to get married in Central Virginia near Charlottesville in July 2019. I’ve looked at quite a few venues, but none are the empty canvas we were hoping for. Our ideal venue includes a large house where I can get ready, where guests can use the restroom and with enough electrical capability to power our reception. Outside, we’d love a big empty field overlooking the mountains where can have an outdoor cocktail hour and where we can pitch a sailcloth tent for a 200-guest reception. Any suggestions? Thanks ahead!

CHeck out Khaimara Farm in Luray! It’s overlooking the mountains and there are cabins of all sizes nearby you could rent out. You definitely have a sailcloth tent there, but they have a very prettt barn space you could use, too.

Have you considered Pippin Hill Farrm?

Moss Vineyards has the most amazing mountain view of any of the vineyards, and they have a pavilion, a small tasting room and a gazebo all overlooking the valley (plus fantastic red wines). They are smaller producers than King Family, Pippin Hill, Veritas or the other big names but their grounds are amazing. I also really like Glass House Winery for their lake views and greenhouse.

I just went to a wedding in that area at Wolftrap Farm and it was a really fun wedding!

I would look into the many, many wineries around there. There have got to be some with the setting you’re looking for.
