I just moved to Virginia Beach about 2 months ago and I am stuck on where to have my upcoming bridal portraits taken. I am going to do some beach photos, but I wanted another location as well. I have heard that Norfolk Botanical Gardens are beautiful, but unfortunatley they only allow pictures during the week. Since my photographer is from NC, he can only travel on the weekend to take them. My portraits are scheduled to be taken on April 14th, so any ideas would be greatly appreciated!!!
Thanks a bunch 🙂

Are you sure the botanical gardens only allow portraits during the week? I swear I shot an engagement shoot there last year on a Saturday (but may be mistaken). The only thing about the gardens is you pay 100-175 dollars to use the location in your photos (biggest rip off ever IMO)
There are tons of places: The pier at Sandbridge beach, downtown Norfolk is fantastic, Town Center in Newport News, and Ghent in Norfolk is great- historic homes, beautiful streets, etc..

Thank you so much for your help, I can’t wait to check out some of your suggestions, especially the Sandbridge pier! Anyone else have any other suggestions?

I did mine in Williamsburg! Colonial Williamsburg is perfect for outdoorsy pictures and provides much more variety of backgrounds than a beach would. I loved my engagement pictures from there!

So many places to choose from! I like the suggestion of Ghent! I used to live there and the houses and the scenery is SO pretty. There’s a little garden a couple (off Botetourt Gardens) of blocks off colley and then there is the foot brigde that crosses the river (off of the street Mobray Arch) and the street with all those churches.
Also there is the beach piers, First Landing State Park, VA beach boardwalk, and I don’t know much about it but theres that historic hotel on the oceanfront, The Cavalier.

I’m with all of those, plus over by freemason theres a chinese restaruant that has a little pond and bride, I think it’s a hidden gem..I really like downtown norfolk/gent if you don’t want the beach. Also in williamsburg there are some amazing new brick bridges in the woods on the scenic route, a-may-zing. I’ve taken the James river ferry and driven through there in the fall but I bet it’s gorgeous in the spring. Oh and red wing park in virginia beach has an oriental garden with cherry blossoms and a little bridge, I bet you can get gorgeous pictures there
