I believe its called oasis (don’t quote me on that though) and I’ve only seen it in green.  I don’t particularly like the look of it, but if you like it then go for it!!

I don’t think it’s tacky, but covering might make it look a little more finished.

@WillyNilly:  Is that picture perhaps from a website that sells oasis and other floral supplies rather than an actual wedding?  If you’re trying to show how it works ot would make sense.

I don’t like it, personally. It looks unfinished, whereas that with the foam wrapped with tulip leaves or something would look better In My Humble Opinion.

It’s oasis.  Did a quick Google and it does come in other colours.  It’s called Rainbow Oasis Foam according to this site.

It’s you wedding and your decor, so if you like it, ROCK it!  I’m not sure if this pic came from a magazine/website, but if so, maybe this was just used to display that floral piece and you are meant to cover the outside with a coordinating ribbon or something, but judging from ladyartichoke’s post (just above my own) looks like the foam is meant to be shown.  IMO, the green look like the craft store foam, but another color would probably look fine.  I think, the green looks unfinished because for years we have seen the craft store styrofoam and that’s what it conjures up in our minds.

What if you did a frosted glass vase/jar? Then you’d still get a bit of the color without seeing what it is?

I don’t love it. However I really don’t like that color of green (I told my florist to take out the green in my white flowers)

I think it might depend on your colour scheme?  If green isn’t already an element in your day, adding it might be a bit much.
