Anyone else having this problem? In my head I have these pictures of how I want my invites to look like, my seating chart tree (similiar to a wish tree using manazita branches) and my centerpieces……….BUT……I find that now as I am purchasing things and trying to make mock ups of invites, I find that its not coming out as I had anticipated.
Just a vent…..I feel like I make progress but then I take 2 steps back when I go to execute the plan….Anyone else in the same boat?

I have the same problem. I’m not as easily artistic as some people, so I have trouble bringing what’s in my head to my actual projects. I think baking and cooking are the only things I can achieve my mental image with!
I think that the more you practice, the more easily it will come. You just really have to learn what you’re doing – so, spend more time with Photoshop for your invites, etc.

Thanks! I just feel like I may be taking on too manY DIY projects w/ eveyrthing else on my plate right now (work, baby showers, being in a wedding, my wedding, etc).
I think my frustrations came to a head yesterday while I was fabric shopping w/ the Mother-In-Law for table runners – every fabric I liked wasn’t in my budget, when I found fabric I loved, there wasn’t enough for all our tables, finally I think I kind if settled for fabric I liked (not loved) because I was sick of being in that fabric warehouse for 3 hours!
I did mock-ups of my wedding invites and my color scheme just didn’t look right (my colors were deep purple, chocolate brown, green, and rustic orange) – kinda looked halloweeny, so now I have kicked rustic orange out of the party except for pops of color in my bouquet. So now I have to go return all my ribbons and start over….
Done venting for a bit….thanks WeddingBee ;o)

I’ve had that when I’ve tried to craft in the past … enough that I’m not trying to DIY practically anything for our wedding. I just don’t trust myself!

Yeah, just about everything I make “evolves” as it is created. I tried to make a necklace not too long ago that was going to be three strands, one with ribbon, one chain and one pearl, but it just wasn’t turning out right and so it just became a 1 strand pearl necklace with an off-center charm. It’s one of my favorite pieces now though.
Just try to be flexible with your visions, sometimes they end up better than you imagined!

That’s how it was with my centerpieces. I’m still not thrilled with them, but I’m just hoping they look better in a dimly lit and otherwise decorated room than they do on my kitchen table, lol…

Uhhhh ya. See my thread about Yudu-ing my invites. Giant fail. LOL! I’ve realized for some things it’s worth it just to pay a professional to do it! There are a lot of things I’m still DIY-ing and excited about, but when the scope of a project is large or uber complicated, you’ll spend more time, money and frustration trying to fix it. Focus on the fun stuff!
