The closest major airport is Miami International.  From there, it’s about a one hour drive.  Out of curiosity, why do you want to go?  I’ve been many times because my ex boyfriend was stationed in Homestead. He had a boat so we would go to Flamingo (in the Everglades) to put the boat in and go fishing all day.  There really isn’t a whole lot to do other than go on a boat- there are very few people there and you’re really in the middle of absolute no where.  It’s one of the most silent places I’ve ever been and while there is beauty in that…I think one or two days is more than enough to go out on a boat, take a tour, and go through some of the park trails.  Also, there really aren’t any restaurants, and if you aren’t camping, you’ll have to stay outside of the park somewhere.

The flamingos are pretty neat- where else are you going to see pink flamingos in the wild?

But, if you do go, my tip is to BRING BUG SPRAY.  Especially one that helps with noseeums.
