I think you should use the white envelope that they come with as the inner envelope because they are see through when you put the invitations in them and because if you use another envelope inside of the white envelopes they won’t fit. I say wait until you recieve the enevelopes to buy outer envelopes for them.

southernbride1317: Hi, I ordered my 5×7 invites off vistaprint and their sizes really are wonky. The 5×7 isn’t a true 5×7, like at all! These are the actual sizes:

    Full Bleed Size

    7.28″ x 4.72″

    185 x 120 mm
2185 x 1417 pixels

    Document Trim Size

    7.17″ x 4.61″

    182 x 117 mm
2150 x 1382 pixels

I learned this the hard way as my invites were cut off the first time around and had to re-do them. (they did this free of charge) The envelopes are also weird sizes. I have them sitting right here and just measured, they are 7.25ish and 4.75ish. Dunno why they call it 5×7 when they list those weird sizes right under it, because they arent and having it 5inches is too big.

However, to answer your Q, they are pretty thin and I wouldn’t recommend using them for outer envelopes as they are pretty see through. So if you care about the postman seeing it all, I wouldn’t use. I think inner could work, but will have to find bigger envelopes than 7.25 and 4.75! I didn’t use the Vistaprint envelopes at all. I used Paper-Source envelopes as my outer, which are 5 1/4″ x 7 1/4″ You get 10 envlopes for $4.25 and if you find a coupon, can get up to 40% off that. Made my accomodations and extra info also the weird 7.25 and 4.75, and then RSVP card was like 3.5 by 5, so all fit into the papersource envelope.

    good luck!
