@laaiinn:  Its just more of everything, and also usually includes some omega 3’s, specifically DHA (good for brain development). Yay for TTC soon! =)

It really is just a smidge more of everything you need, Prenatals are more geared towards the vitamins and minerals a woman’s body needs while a baby is growing in the womb so it’s typically more recommended more then a multi vitamin which is not specific.  Keep in mind prenatals will make some people sick, it didn’t to me but I know several friends of mine that couldn’t take it without having something in their stomach foodwise.  I would start taking half a prenatal to make sure you can handle it.

My dr told me to take a women’s vitamin until the time I was ready to start trying. My multi vitamin had 400mg of folic acid and she said that was perfect. I switched to a prenatal two months before ttc. The prenatal has 800mg. I take the Target Brand and I’ve had no issues.
