No one likes vomiting or seeing it, however I think you’re intense fear is more like a phobia. This can be a very dangerous phobia. As a psych major, we learned of people whose fear became so intense they would not eat for fear of vomiting. I thikn you should seek out some counseling – preferably someone that specializes in cognitive behavioral therapy.

You have emetophobia!!! An intense, irrational fear or axiety pertaining to vomitting!
It’s the fifth most common phobia, so you aren’t alone! 🙂

Here’s the Wikipedia page, if your interested: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Emetophobia

I hope you can find some help somehow! I’m very sorry this causes you so much axiety 🙁

I’m not a therapist, but one thing I’ve learned from therapy is that often the thing we think we are afraid of is not always the thing we really fear. This sounds like a form of OCD, so you might want to talk to a counseler about it. I had an irrational fear, but it was a fear of intimacy. Luckily, I was able to move past it, and I hope you do, too!

I have emetophobia, too! Since I was a child! I’ve worked with therapists on it using CBT. I have gotten better, but sometimes I still have relapses and freak out. I mean, I’m still terrified if I think I’m going to do it.

Oh I hate it- I’m scared that if I drink too much i will puke, so I dont’ drink too much.  That said, I’ve been puked on and survived.  It did make me gag though.  As a kid, I wouldn’t eat because I feared throwing up in front of others…but its not like I was underweight or carried that into adulthood.

You know the vomiting doesn’t stop after pregnancy, right? Babies vomit a LOT. And then they get a little older and pick up stomach viruses…and keep on vomiting.

I’d tackle this with a therapist and see if you can get ahold of your phobia!

I would be afraid of vomit just because it’s stomach acid.

That, and if I already weren’t afraid of poop.

I’ve had the exact same phobia my whole life. It’s not an irrational fear, it’s actually a real phobia. I’ve learned to cope with it and get better about my anxiety, but I feel your pain!

You should go for desensitization therapy. If this is affecting your everyday life, you’re best to seek help and kick your phobia!

I agree with several others here that you should seek professional help from this.  From what I understand, a good rule of thumb is that if you are having an anxiety issue that is interfering with your day-to-day functioning, not to mention “taking over your life,” it’s time to get some help with it.
