Ok ladies. I need your help.
I am trying to choose my father/daughter dance song. I have four really good ideas, one of which has a lot of significance to my father and I. I’d love for each of you to give a quick listen (not the whole song per se, but just to hear the lyrics and what they sound like) to each and vote for which one you think we should use!
1) Alan O’Bryant – You Are My Sunshine
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QeSqMbevg0w
(This is the one that has a lot of significance to us – my parents divorced when I was very young, and we had visitation with my dad every-other-weekend and on Wednesday nights. As he drove us home every time, we would sing this for the last few miles before we pulled into my mom’s house. My concern with this one is that he is a very emotional guy, and that he might cry [truthfully, he might cry anyway]. Also is it just too fast? That’s not really my primary concern though.)
2) Stevie Wonder – You Are The Sunshine of My Life

3) The Temptations – My Girl

4) The Beatles – In My Life

I really like all of them, but my vote went to song #1 when I read your story because I think that if it holds that special of meaning, you should go for it.
Just to add, I had Wonder of You by Elvis Presley if you want to take a listen for shits and giggles.

@Jen51287: my Maid/Matron of Honor and my sister both voted for that one too. I just need the opinion of the interweb masses before I can narrow it down/pull the trigger I think.

I voted “You are the Sunshine of my Life”, which I think is a good half-way point between your childhood memory and something that will not cause your Dad to cry.

@BrandNewBride: wellllll he might cry anyway! Haha. He cries at every wedding ever, at Extreme Makeover Home Edition…it’s pretty easy to make him cry. Haha

My dad is a cryer too. And when i was little he would sing “You are so beautiful” to me my whole childhood! He was the first to hold me when I was born & the first thing he said was, “shes so beautiful!” So i plan on using that song as our father/daughter dance song. Even better, i’m not going to tell him what the song is going to be. So when it starts, hes going to turn into a puddle!! Of course, I will too, but thats besides the point.
Choose the song that has the most important meaning to you & your dad 🙂

I definitely say go with 1! Something with meaning behind it like that is so much more special!
