If you don’t legally change your name before the election, you can vote under your maiden name if you’re already registered under that name. Your registered name will need to match the name on your ID.

The name change process is many shades of grey. I’m only just wrapping mine up after my wedding nearly 3 months ago, and I was super on top of it.

Basically, just don’t apply for a new SSI card until after you vote. I think your name is legally changed once your marriage license is on file, but I did a number of government-related things (including applying for / collecting unemployment) with my old name and all went well.
