So this is kind of two in one post – my husband and I have already been married for almost 2 years. We have decided to do a vow renewal for our 5th anniversary – we weren’t able to do the ceremony we wanted to because he is in the Coast Guard. We ended up eloping. What are the thoughts on this? Everyone knows we’re already married so how do I tell people about the ceremony?
The second thing is that for the life of me I cannot find a blue gown. It sounds odd but it was an old Irish custom for the bride to wear blue. And since I can’t really wear white anyway I thought blue would be gorgeous. Does anyone have ideas of where I could find a blue gown?
Thanks in advance =)

Send out invitations just like any other event (baby shower, wedding, etc)
As for the gown, could you get a very fancy/formal bridesmaid gown and order it in blue? Alfred Angelo and David’s Bridal have a wide array of colors, so you’re bound to find the right shade of blue!

@megan1016: Normal invites and you can add something like “we invite you to share in our renewed love”. that was on my grandparents vow renewal and I thought is was perfect! As for a blue dress….I think I have seen wedding tutorials on how to dye dresses? I know that is a scary choice but maybe a fun DIY?

I can’t really offer any help, but wanted to tell you that we are doing the same thing! With Hubs being in the Army, we decided to elope too. That was 4 years ago and we are renewing for our 5th with a ceremony, too. I am so excited, I feel like a new bride all over again, lol.

We eloped and decided to push our original “wedding” date to a day we both could make. Our in invitations said something like …invite you to celebrate their marriage, so it’s still a present tense action. I think it worked well
