Just wanted to share a quick little project I put together last night that I’m kinda excited about! I had been browsing the BHLDN website (shouldn’t go there, can’t afford there) when I stumbled across these cute mini books for writing your personal vows in.
Of course, I suddenly realized my NEED to have something like this. But I couldn’t really justify $28 on a couple mini notebooks, not on our budget. I went to Etsy to see if I could find something cheaper, and to my disappoint, most everything cost even MORE! 🙁 I did find these, though–I loved the design and they were slightly cheaper, at $25.
But then I was struck with inspiration that I could do these myself for cheaper! AND we could use “our” font (the one that’s been on all our stationary so far), and have a lot more personalization. I played with a few layouts and this is what I came up with! These are terrible cell quality pics of a mockup I printed up at work on bad paper (hence the fold marks), so the final version will look much better (explanation to follow!). But I hope you can get the idea!
Front and back views.
Inside view (names blocked out):
The background is a lightly printed running text of the traditional wedding vows. 🙂
Here’s the design file of the front so you can see the quality better! We will have His and Hers versions. 🙂
I plan to cut paper down to size to fit inside of these (they’ll be about 4″x 3″ in their folded size) and binding it with just a simple staple binding, so we can write our individual vows inside. Aren’t they cute?
And here is the best part! They’re only going to be $6! My trick was to order samples of the Oversized Postcard on Vistaprint. They send you 10 for $3 and free shipping. We don’t need 10 copies, of course, but we do need 2 different designs, so that’s why it’ll be $6. But they’ll be printed on great, thick paper. I’ve already tested folding it with one of our leftover Save the Dates and it looks great.
I’m just really happy we are going to be able to have something nice to write our vows in instead of on just a sheet of notebook paper (and it’ll be a great photo op and memory for us to keep, I’m sure). And I’m so pleased with the cost, too! 🙂
Edited to add: I’d be happy to take off the personalization if anyone wants to use my design and order their own! Just let me know!
