I am planning my VR and trying ti decide if we should have an officiatent or not. I think the DJ can pretty much guide us through everything (oncee we have a meeting and stuff, and discuss what I want) I just think this may be a waste of money since we are doing our own vows and its going to be sort of non traditional as far as surprises and that goes.
anyhow I am just wondering if any other VR brides are hiring an officiant or doing their own things or what is your take on it, especially if you had your VR already…

oh sorry, Vow Renewal. My husband and I are planning our 20th anniversary Vow Renewal (not for 2 years, but thank God I started now as I am finding I am so indecisive about everything pretty much!) I seriously don’t think a year would have been enough, the only thing decided on is the venue (where we originally got married almost 18 years ago:) **sigh** insert dreamy romantic look here LOL)
I would rather put the money towards other things than an officiant, but I can see where an officiant would be handy. hrmmm wonder if my son (who will be like 27 at the time, yikes! could possibly act as one)… interesting indeed…

I think having your son as the “officiant” will be really sweet.
Technically you don’t need one for legal reasons so why waste the money.

I think the ideaof having your son act as officiant is sweet! Especially since a VR doesn’t need to be legally binding, so he doesn’t have to be become ordained if he doesn’t want to. I say save the money and ask your son, or a close family friend! Congrats on your 20 years!
