We have used VRBO to rent cottages many times and a condo in Hawaii a couple of times. We have had no bad experiences or disappointments.

Owners who are ok with large groups say so in their ads. Be sure you are honest with them or you can void your contract.

@Pinklily2014:  We rented a beach house in Galveston for our wedding as well as a cottage for our honeymoon. The owners will e-mail you a contract and also send you a form to pay the deposits. When you pay the deposits you can also opt in to things like insurance.

@Pinklily2014:  I have used it before, for weekend getaways. Also contacted about 30 places for potential wedding receptions! I am having a smaller wedding (30ish guests) and I def let them know via message/email. Some of them are cool with it, some aren’t.

I think it’s a great idea because you get the whole weekend there and can set up and decorate with time.

Be careful though, because some ownes will want to up the price a lot for having a party there so keep that in mind!!!
