@happygirl25:  If you love the dress, that is all that matters! I will be wearing Gemma in June and I think overdone is a silly word to use. Remember that here on the Bee you are surrounded by fellow brides and people addicted to weddings!

Your actuall attendees are most likely not in the category of ‘actively researching dresses’ or ‘knows every popular dress out there’. Nobody that will be attending my wedding will recognize the dress except for 1 or 2 wedding obsessed individuals.

Be proud and excited to wear a gorgeously designed Vera Wang gown and don’t worry about those 1 or 2 that might recognize it! If anything, they’ll probably be even more excited for you than others.

I don’t see it super often. I’ve never seen it or anything like it in real life. I only know that it’s popular from being a bride myself so I doubt the majority of your guests will notice!

Overdone is a weird way to put it. It’s a very distinctive dress, but one that has been worn by many, many brides, so maybe I would say it’s not as much of an out of the box choice as it might have been 18 months ago.

But I don’t think a dress can be “overdone,” because overdone kind of implies that you would just be wearing it because it was Gemma, not because you loved the gown, it looked great on you and it made you feel like a bride.  As long as you love the dress and it makes you feel radiant then you shouldn’t worry about it being overdone.

If your guests have seen the dress before, they will probably just think it’s a beautiful gown worn by a beautiful bride, not that the Gemma dress is so last year ๐Ÿ˜‰

The Gemma has a classic design and it’s not loud in any way.  I think it will remain timeless and elegant!

HappyGirl, we’re in the SAME boat! I’ve been in love with Gemma since Hilary Duff wore it in August ’10! It’s an incredible gown and I agree with the other posters- we’re wedding obsessed, your guests most likely will not be. All they’ll see is an incredibly beautiful bride ๐Ÿ™‚

Honestly I never understood the big thing about this dress… It is not my favorite and I think it will look very dated in a couple of years…But that is MY personal opinion. It is your wedding so go with what you like and be happy !!!!!!

@happygirl25:  First off I’m glad this isn’t a hate thread like the one that went around about Adorae awhile ago…

I was crazy about my dress when I first brought it home too, that will lessen (you’ll still love it of course but it won’t drive you crazy thinking about it sitting in a closet).

I don’t think it will be overdone by 2014 because while you make think it is from being on the Bee – how many of your wedding guests will have seen it?  I’m an Adorae bride wearing it at the end of her popularity and that doesn’t bother me!

@mchitt329:  ME TOO!! It was a hate thread about Adorae and the Divina – which literally was crushing & made me question my Divina. Glad this didnt turn nasty. We all have feelings and they should be respected.

Personally, i think Gemma is gorgeous and timeless. Youll love your dress as much today as you will 50 years from now.

@mchitt329:  hahahahaha. I know!!! That thread was SO hurtful to many!! and Thanks! I honestly went back the next day & tried it on again – and I went with pictures of other dresses. Luckily, the same bridal consultant was working and I swear she wanted to knock me upside the head!!! Haha. I think some women forget their manners online & also forget that we are human beings behind computers who deserve respect just like anyone else. ๐Ÿ™‚

@IUrebekah3RT:  Exactly, it’s easy to be mean online but geesh I’ve never seen another thread saying “such and such dress is SO UGLY” why would you wear it?!

IDK how that was productive or helpful to anyone.
