I received my Vera Wang White 351011 in Soft White and I wanted to share the pictures and story in case other bees find them useful!
First I gotta say, what a stunning dress!!! I am so happy I bought it!! And with 50% discount at David’s Bridal sale!!! I live overseas and is impossible to find beautiful and reasonably priced wedding gowns here, all my friends have paid no less than $2000 for theirs. Mine was $800 including shipping and WOW!!! Is just absolutely stunning, everythng you’ve read about it is true, lol. Is very stylish, extremely flattering (I am a size 14, sometimes even size 16 in my hips), so not skinny by any means, and this dress is looks so stunning and classy! The ruffles move beautifully as well, an I did not find it that heavy. I may get a petticoat and have the tulle underskirt hemmed, but appart from that it fits like a glove. I hope I can lose some weight before the wedding (mostly because of health as I am pre-diabetic) but even if that doesn’t happen at size 14 it will look beautiful!!!
I saw a very similar dress here in my city (Helen Miller Elstar) for a cool $6,200 USD but there was no way I was going to pay that kind of money. Luckly for me, the shop assistant mentioned that the dress was very similar to one designed by Vera Wang, so I started googlign and I found VW351011 right away and totally fell in love with it!! Then after more searches I found this amazing forum and read all the threads related to this dress so thanks everyone for your contributions, is great for those of us who can’t try the dress before buying to see what other brides are saying and look at your pics etc. because shopping online for a wedding gown yo have not tried is not easy, lol.
Anyway, besides sharing my joy I wanted to make my own contribuiton regarding the dress color. I know many brides debate between the ivory and the white, and I found it very difficult to find pictures online of the dress in white or soft white, the majority of the pics seemed to be from the ivory dress, or at least some of the pictures did not mention the color so I wasn’t sure if it was ivory or white what I was seeing in the pics.
I am latin and have tanned skin with a yellow undertones so I wasn’t sure, but having read that ivory is best fo pale skins with pink undertones, I decided to order the soft white instead. I also read that the dress has a ‘buttery’ tone to it, which I am sure looks lovely in pale brides but I wasn’t sure it would do any favors to my skin!
In the end I am so glad I did, the soft white is definitely more flattering for tanned skin in IMO. Below you can see some pictures. I am attaching one close up wearing the bridal sash of my friend, this sash is ivory and you can definitely tell the difference. I will not be wearing her sash (it was suppossed to be my borrowed) because the difference in color is too obvious but I will definitely shop around for one in white.
I am super happy with my dress, I gave it a little steaming at home so the ruffles would settle down, lol, but of course it doesn’t look perfect.. it will deffo need a very good steaming before the wedding.
I am marryign the man of my dreams in Europe during the summer, with a Vera Wang gown nonetheless. To say I am ecstatic doesn’t even begin to cover it !!!!! 🙂
