Your best bet might be to go on TripAdvisor and ask the local DEs for some Oahu suggestions.

I try to avoid Waikiki if at all possible – Kauai or Hawaii island would be ever so much more romantic, and nicer for a honeymoon – how long do you have?

@navybride0428:  if you rent a car make sure to drive to the farther beaches. Don’t just go to the waikiki beach. Are you staying on base or the downtown military hotel?

Posting so I can follow… We’ll be spending a short part of our honeymoon in Waikiki and I have no idea what we’ll do.

Lanikai & Kailua beach are my personal favorites that I’ve ever been to. The North Shore is much quieter than Waikiki beach… very nice, much slower, and closer to what Hawaii was like years ago!

A lot of the hikes in Hawaii are BEAUTIFUL, some can be challenging, so it depends on your fitness level… let me see if I can remember the name of my favorite!

And I would never ever ever go to the dole plantation again! Don’t waste your money, there are not even any pineapples on the grounds! LOL

I didnt honeymoon there, but I have vacationed there. Pretty expensive but probably the best vacation I have been on! Id reccomend pearl harbor for sure, you can get some pretty good deals on guided tours. Bring snorkel gear from home (you can get it cheap online/ from costco) and hit up the beaches. Have a blast!

@sweetestsin:  I was so disappointed with the dole plantation! It was a tourist trap.

Waikiki is awesome and so much fun! Oahu is my favourite island because I love the options for things to do.

I recommend: Hanuma Bay, Kailua beach, north shore, Waikiki beach (the restaurants are awesome with amazing views), Duke’s, Pearl Harbor

Have fun, you will love it!

@navybride0428:  def use the ITT center. I think it’s probably a waste to visit the army base, it’s crap. But k-bay, ford island, pearl harbour, those are all good. Hickam airforce base has the best facilities. Also the navy exchange there is the largest of any in the world.
