I think it will take ours 8-12 weeks based on the contract and friends that have used them. We just did our engagement photos and I think those will take 3 weeks (though they showed us one already which had me DYING of excitement). The contract says within 12 weeks, my friend got hers from them in 8.

Some photographers send their photos out to be culled, but ours does all his own culling. They also work full time as photographers (not all photogs are full time) and shoot a very consistant schedule with few breaks. So there’s a workflow going on all the time that I respect.

Mine took about 7 weeks.  I think 10 weeks sounds normal.  I imagine 4-12 weeks is somewhat of an average.

I don’t exclusively shoot weddings but I expect to provide the bride and groom with 4/5 teaser images within 36 hours – these will be optimised for web viewing and for them to share on social media. The rest of the pictures would be turned around in 3 weeks. But then I work at silly o’clock in the evening quite regularly and am a bit OCD about ensuring that backlogs don’t build up. I’d have thought 8-10 weeks was a perfectly reasonable timescale but this is something to tie down in your contract so there is no danger of misplaced expectations on either side.

I got 1 teaser the night of the wedding and 2-3 more the next day.

I got all the pictures back within a month

We got 3 teaser pictures within 2 days. We got about 12 more 2 weeks later. The full batch should be delivered about 6 weeks after the wedding. Not bad, but she did say she was behind and if something came up in her personal life there may be another week or two wait.

@milag64:  I hired a photographer on Friday, and his contract states 4 weeks.

My contract said 8 weeks and I actually waited 11.5

My contract says aprox 6 weeks but we are now on week 9 and still waiting… Grrr! Last week they did say that they should have them ready by the end of the weekend but it’s now Tuesday and I still haven’t received them… Fingers crossed they will come through this week though.

Edit: We did get out sneak peek within 24 hours and I do think it depends on how many pictures they actually take as well. We had LOADS taken so I guess it takes longer to edit as well.
